I have o activate SEF URLs in a website.

Regarding SEO, is there any difference between using / or - ?

I mean, Is it better to write URLs like this:

      http://www.domain.com/folder/folder/page

      or like this:

      http://www.domain.com/folder-folder-page

      ?

      Is there any difference?

      Thanks!

I would asume thats search engines would see / more a breakup of a phrase then -

to put it another way, / seems equal to a full stop, while - is more like a space.

Ask yourself: What structure offers a better user experience? Which one is easier to read, more concise, offers more orientation? Use that one!

Do you really need folder-folder-page ? How about just ".com/page.html" ? Or at most .com/category/page.html

          I am pretty sure that

widgets.com/green-widgets.html has a better CTR than

          www.widgets.com/widgets/color/great-green-widgets.html

I have always read that (-) is the best practice for URLs for telling search engines the separation of keyword phrases.  I think about it terms of my computer's hard drive to keep it simple.

The (/) separates files (blog directories), and the (-) is what I use on my files (web pages).

Just my way of rationalizing it to myself!

            Have a good one,

            Jared
