      Hello Seomoz community,

Simple question , i am looking forward to move a word press website from blog.domain.com sub domain to domain.com/blog to increase my indexed link on the root domain indexed by search engine. The blog i want to move already have high PR ( 6 )

i , of course want to avoid broken link , already indexed in search engine.

What would be the best way to process to prepare this move accordingly on a SEO perspective ???

      Many thanks in advance.

      Yan Desjardins

        HI Yan.

So basically you want to move your blog from a subdomain to a folder. Follow the following steps:

        • Install wordpress in your root. Most cpanels these days offer one-click solutions to install wordpress.

        • Move the current theme folder from  the present location to the new location .. i.e. wp-content/themes/

        • Connect the new theme to the database which is being used right now. There will be no need to change or transfer the database.

        • With the above steps the /blog will go live.

        MOST IMPORTANT PROCESS

        • Since your blog has PR6, you would not like the indexed URLs to break. So its very important you 301 redirect the old links to the new ones. This is a manual process, and probably take hours, if not days. This can be done from the cpanel itself. There's no other option but to do this so as to keep your ranking alive.

If you are not very technical, I suggest hire a professional coder to help you out with this.  I can help if you want.

Let me know if you want any further help.

        Thanks,
