You need to thing about internal linking.

Try to get a flat linking stucture, do not have a full sitemap on every page, only link to landing pages from every page.

This page explains a lot, note some info is old, such as in-links cannot harm you, but the explaination of how link juice flows is very good. it has a caculator you can use to see how thinks work

Yes it's a good article, although as ryan pointed out some of the info is old and incorrect (about inlinks not hurting) the maiin concept about page rank still holds true.
