Single-words high keyword density. How many is too many.
I guess it would depend on what the single word and the long phrase is. There's no blanket answer for every situation.

Geotargeting a new domain without impacting traffic to existing domain
Thanks, Gareth. Yes, we are evaluating the different options, including the sub-domain/ separate folder one, though the option we really want to go for (primarily due to business considerations) is the one I've described above. Any more thoughts/ ideas will certainly be appreciated.

Google penalty, how long? urls self-generated
Hi Adam, Naghirniac, Thank you very much for your feedback. I think like you, it is important to wait. We've taken the right decisions and our site is cleaner. Thanks for taking the time to reply. Emiliano

Backlinks
Hi Brad Keep in mind that sometimes the DA can be misleading when a site or link is on a subdomain(blogger being a good example) since Google will class the blog/site on it's own and you would then look at the PA. Also worth noting is that the links relevancy and position within the relevant content and anchor text is ideal. Personally I would check the competitors backlink profile, sort by domain authority(keeping an eye on subdomains that inflate this figure) and then start checking for relevancy. Hope this helps

Fake PageRank scam?
The PR is legitamate. But the site itself is bad, bad news. If you check whois, you can see the registration is only a few months old. So how did they achieve such high PR in such a short period of time? A very smart (and un-named) colleague of mine suggested using spyonweb to check the Google Analytics and Adsense code of this site to see what other sites it was connected to. Looks like it's part of a huge link network all owned or managed by the same people. (hint - use spyonweb to search for the Google Adsense code "pub-xxxxxxxxx") Regardless, the site is obviously selling links at the bottom of the page. Although Google doesn't catch all paid links, these are so obvious that anyone who buys them is at huge risk of a penalty. A smart webmaster would be wise to stay away from paid link offers like this.

What do you think of our new category page?
i don't know, i seem to think more then one image is too much in one go. An image catches the eye, but a gallary bores them, one image and some easy to read suporting text getting your basic message accross. Only when they are interested will more content be of use. Thats my opinion

Why is Google not punishing paid links as it says it will?
Keep in mind that the goal here is usually not to "punish" the paid link, but instead to ignore it. If Google punished sites for paid links, then that competitor would still buy the links, but would just have them point to your site so you get punished! Ultimately some links that are instantly obvious to humans as artificial and paid are very hard for computers to algorithmically detect without also throwing out tons of valid links. Over the long haul (years, not months) Google does steadily get better at it.

Showing pre-loaded content cloaking?
We have a ton of text -- as the user scrolls down the page, we would load the text/resource they would like to see. If we use LL, we can reduce page load time by 50%-75%. I was wondering originally if we could show the entirety of the text for the crawlers to see, even though the average users would see go through the content using LL. We want to speed up the site to improve UX, but don't want to do anything that might hit us with a penalty or be seen as black hat/cloaking. Thanks Syed!

Retail Site and Internal Linking Best Practices
Hi Mat, I encountered myself the same issue and wondered what you thought... I run an e-commerce website. There was a point where I saw a keyword that is somehow related to my site but I knew that it would have low percentage to convert. I decided to try and added an article about it. It got me on first page for two keywords (positions 3 and 7) that are exact searched about 420,000 times (which is much more than all of my main subjects together...). The article is very good and informative - I have 80% bounce and average time on page of over 2 minutes. Meaning people are coming, reading and then most of them are leaving. By the way, I have an outgoing link there to a more related site assuming that I rather have them going out through me than back to Google. Is that a good thing or I should stay away from these type of articles?

Need a Service to get back links- info on Youtube PR Ranking
Hey Joe, So, as you correctly identify, the YouTube algorithm does appear to be somewhat less sophisticated than the main Google algorithm in terms of spam detection and often times, if you buy loads of links to your videos - you can get them ranking well. Ultimately, I don't think it really matters where you go to buy these links. The PageRank of those links also wont matter a great deal. At such a scale, one low quality link comment spam link will be more or less as good as another and you're clearly taking the risk in knowledge of a potential penalty. So, i'm afraid I can't recommend you any companies to do this, but hopefully I can give you some other tips which would help with your YouTube optimisation and may help mitigate against some of the risks you will be taking. Hotspots After running numerous tests, we've discovered that the viewing metrics of your videos make a huge different to their ability to rank. YouTube hotspots (see here for details - http://www.distilled.net/blog/social-media/youtube/youtube-insight-film-critic-reviews-for-your-video-now-included/) give a really comprehensive overview of how individuals behave when watching your video and if you can find a way to scale improving the responses here - it should really improve rankings. Quantity 4000 videos is an awful lot. Given the scale, I imagine that they're extremely low quality, or duplicate content targeting different keywords. I would really recommend that you consider reducing the quantity here, as the more you scale this process, the easier it is going to be for Google to pick up and then give you a spamming penalty. Channel Whatever you do, don't buy tons of low quality links out to 4000 videos coming off the same channel - this will set off alarms very quickly and sooner or later, the channel will be devalued. Hope that's helpful - but please do be aware of the risk you're taking here! I fully expect your videos to get a penalty if you buy links to all 4000. You may get away with it for a bit, but please carefully consider whether the cost will really be worth the results. Cheers, Phil

How Would You Go About Building a Private Link Network?
I wouldn't.. private link networks are becoming more public by the day as Google improves their algo... Rethink your strategy & look at social media & other types of link building (e.g. create some compelling content)
