Dig into white hat and black hat SEO trends.

  • Yes it will cause a problem if you just do it in such a basic way. Google crawl from numerous data-centres, based in different countries. As such, Googlebot will crawl from different places and will keep thinking different areas of your site are going up and down all the time. The remedy of course, is to exempt Googlebot (user-agent) from your redirects

  • Hi there, Nope, highlighting keywords in bold does not have any direct impact on SEO. Google's spokesman (John Mueller) has said that bolding help more humans than bots a few years ago, you can check it here. If that website ranks high is because they are offering great content and experience to users and they might be getting great backlinks.  We could argue if that seems natural for a common reader (not an SEO minded like us). It might seem a little off to be highlighted just right away, but still, it is a great piece of content. My experience points out that internal linking with rich keyword focus helps Google a lot on understanding its content and on targetting a specific search phrase. Hope it helps. Best luck. Gaston

  • Hi there, If you haven't done anything wrong or spammy in an SEO matter, then you shouldn't worry that much. The first thing that I'd advise you to look for answers is in the previous history of your domain. It's common that old domains have a history of being used in spammy tactics. The second thing to consider is that this is just a private metric, it DOES NOT MEAN that you will have problems or going to be penalized in google search. Then, I'd take a deep read and try to understand what other factors could be impacting your really high spam socre. Here you can find the 27 most important factors for Moz's spam score. Hope it helps, Best luck.

  • Hi Shawn, 1, if you spot clearly spammy and unnatural links.. go ahead and disavow them. Keep in mind that there is the possibility to disavow entire domains. Here for more information about it. Disavow backlinks - Google Search Console. 2, No, sitewide links from a blog or in any part of your own website won't be a cause of penalty like this one. Google is able to recognize sitewide links a few years back. I wouldn't worry about that. 3, There are many areas to focus after an organic penalty. I'd suggest trying to understand which queries and URLs are the ones losing traffic and rankings, mostly from Google Search Console. Then, analyze what's going on with the User Experience and Site Speed, comparing your website with the ones that outrank you. And, last but not least, content! Check your content whether is the one that should be answering user's queries. Hope it helps, Best luck. Gaston

  • I don't think there is much risk in this unless they are expired domains with a bunch of spammy links pointing to them. However, I don't imagine you will see much if any ranking improvements from doing this.

  • Over the years Google has drastically devalued the SEO impact of Footer links, however, we have seen them generate a benefit in the form of referral traffic. I would be careful with having Exact Keywords in the footer links though, could seem spammy as you pointed out.

  • I'd at least give it a try and see what happens, if it turns out that your hypothesis is wrong you can always un-disavow the links. When you upload a txt file to the disavow tool, it counts that as your total disavow efforts (so if you just upload a txt file containing these links you have spotted, you may lose previous disavow work). Be sure to download your existing disavow file so you can add to it, instead of just uploading the links you have found A side-effect of this though, is that later you could upload your disavow again excluding those links and un-disavow them. Before you do anything, you'd want to evaluate the technical features of those links. If they are all no-followed, they won't count towards Google's rankings anyway, so no action would be required (on your part) Usually speaking, I would suggest making your homepage more link-worthy so that it gains more backlinks over time. Since this case is so extreme, you might actually want to consider disavow (or getting those links no-followed). Followed site-wide links can negatively affect rankings, under certain circumstances

  • As stated by Google, subdomains can be considered as part of your site, so the redirects can negatively harm your site and raise red flags although not as much as directories/posts. As the redirects are done on subdomains, then you should check with your domain provider or hosting provider in order to disable the use of subdomains and revert the issue. • Thank you for the kind response. Always a pleasure helping other marketers and business owners. As you disavow backlinks, google (or any other search engine where you disavow them) will not calculate the links when ranking your sites, but they will still be present where posted and will show up when researched on sites like Moz, SemRush, Ahrefs, etc. The backlinks are not removed from Moz because the list of the disavowed links are stored on the database of the search engine to be used by them. For future disavowing you can check the newly-added links or filter the full site backlinks list with the disavowed links list. You can find the disavow links tool in the search console/webmaster tools of the 2 main search engines: Google and Bing. If you need help with the disavow process for your site, feel free to let us know. Daniel Rika - Dalerio Consulting https://dalerioconsulting.com/ info@dalerioconsulting.com

  • 1. Was my website penalized for having an unnatural backlink profile (too many do-follow links), or maybe this drop in positions is just a temporary, natural thing? Maybe you experience Google Flux which is normal. 2. Isn’t it too late for making the backlink profile look more natural by building more nofollow backlinks and making it 50%/50%? Try to analyze your competitor's backlink profile and analyze them, maybe they build more high-quality backlinks than you. Try also to inspect your ONPAGE score compared to them.

  • I am not 100% in agreement with Alick. Google struggles a bit with subdomains, it sometimes treats them as separate websites sometimes as the same website.  John Mueller informed Distilled of same circa 12 months ago. I would be cautious going down the path suggested, can you not migrate the content and re-direct? Hope that helps.

  • James, I would still make these as out of stock. If these products don't get any organic search or traffic anyway, it is ok to re-direct them. The message above was for established products that have been indexed by Google over a long period of time. Please le the know if you have any questions. Also, if someone answer the question to your satisfaction you should mark the comment as a good comment

  • My keywords now start to show on google second and third page. I think I should wait to see some more improvement. Only few links are showing in search console. Moz and ahref shows 300+ referring domains. I should have to wait more until all referring domains start to show in search console.

  • Hi, For this you must increase the authority of your website. To gain authority you must first have patience, from one day to the next it is not. You can carry out a content marketing strategy so that people read and share your content through social networks, that's a good sign for google, in addition to this, you can carry out a linkbuilding strategy (get links with good authority > 30 and that is your theme and language preferably), in addition to all the above you have to have a well optimized website, both Google and your readers will appreciate it. You can also do guest blogging, that is, write articles in other relevant blogs of your theme. regards

  • Hi I agree with Noozle. If the toxic links represent a small percentage of the total number of links, it should not be a problem. If you can get those links that point to your website removed, it will always be positive regards
