Effect of same country server hosting on SEO
Hi, Google says "Server Location Mostly Irrelevant For SEO". I'm quoting Google's John Mueller in response to the question of SEO and server location: "For search, specifically for geotargeting, the server's location plays a very small role, in many cases it's irrelevant. If you use a ccTLD or a gTLD together with Webmaster Tools, then we'll mainly use the geotargeting from there, regardless of where your server is located. You definitely don't need to host your website in any specific geographic location -- use what works best for you, and give us that information via a ccTLD or Webmaster Tools." Q: Is the server location important for geotargeting? If you can use one of the other means to set geotargeting (ccTLD or Webmaster Tools’ geotargeting tool), you don’t need worry about the server’s location. We do, however, recommend making sure that your website is hosted in a way that will give your users fast access to it (which is often done by choosing hosting near your users). _Original thread @ https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/webmasters/k6po9mnpI8c/discussion_ Hope this helps. Thanks

Hide keyword tag or not?
Just to chime in Bing has also hinted that it sometimes uses the keywords as a negative factor in ranking signals which is another reason in my books to not use it. Tim makes some great points though so thumbs up all around!

Why there is lot of difference in Domain Authority vs majestic trust flow strange???
Hello! Domain Authority is OUR metric and we have a specific way of crawling to calculate our metrics. Majestic will have their own link discovery methods as well as other backlink tools. You will not find the same amount of data with any single tool so it is best to use all at your disposal to have as much information as you can for your analysis. Hope this helps!

Are businesses still hiring SEO that use strategies that could lead to a Google penalty?
Thanks for the answer Marie. That is true about the SEO in the middle who can talk the talk and can get away sounding like a pro. It's also true that many small businesses, especially those online, have little budget but have the desire, if not the need, to rank and just can't afford big budgets, so they are at the mercy of the cheaper SEOs.

What do you think of this "SEO software" that uses Rand's "proven method" ?
Responding to the original question about crowdsearch.me: It definitely does work, but the results are a little unpredictable. The best way to use it is to help push pages on page 2 or better up the rankings. There are other similar services out there, and they are also effective. Sooner or later the Google boys will figure out how to combat it, but for now, it's a viable black hattish weapon.

Redirecting 86'd Brand Product Category Page
Question, how are you able to point backlinks to a new page without using a 301 redirect? Because if I use a 301 redirect I'm not going to be able to use a 404 customized page.

Was there a new Penguin update in the last days?
Interesting. I haven't seen any chatter at all about Penguin hitting...and usually when people think Penguin is hitting I usually get bombarded with emails. I wonder if it was part of a Penguin test? If this is the case then things could change soon. Please keep us updated.

Baidu spider anyone know much about this?
1. What is Baiduspider? Baiduspider is Baidu search engine program which is used to visit pages on the internet and build information into Baidu index. This enables users to locate your site when they perform a search. 2. What is Baiduspider’s user-agent? Baidu uses different user-agents for different products: | Name of Products | User-agent | | PC search | Baiduspider | | Mobile search | Baiduspider | | Image search | Baiduspider-image | | Video search | Baiduspider-video | | News search | Baiduspider-news | | Baidu bookmark | Baiduspider-favo | | Union baidu | Baiduspider-cpro | | Business search | Baiduspider-ads | | other search | Baiduspider | 3. Will Baiduspider creates additional loading to customer servers? In order to ensure the search results cover most of your pages, Baiduspider must keep the crawling at a certain level. We have been trying our best to avoid increasing the loading to your servers, and to adjust the frequency based on combined factors, such as your server's capability, your site’s quality and the update frequency of your site. If you find any unreasonable access from Baiduspider, please inform us athttp://webmaster.baidu.com/feedback/index (arab, thai,Português) Hope this helps.

Wordpress Category Archives - Index - but will this cause duplication?
This should be totally fine. It's pretty common blog/wordpress practice to have excerpts on a category page and then the full article/recipe on that individual page. Also, just to dispel a myth there is no duplicate content "penalty" - so nothing to fear from that standpoint anyway - just try to make each page have a distinct purpose, which they do. The category page allows users to browse all the recipes in that category and choose which to view. The recipe page allows users to view the whole recipe and use it to hopefully cook something tasty

Magento Temporary Redirects?
Hey Kelly, Seems like there is a problem with your redirection. You should get the help of your developer to fix it from the controller. Check out this guide: https://www.apptha.com/blog/magento-url-redirect-from-controller/ You can also use this magento's extension (I've used it and it worked out really good) http://www.magentocommerce.com/magento-connect/optimise-web-s-mass-301-redirects-for-404-pages.html Hope this helps! Thanks,

Backlink Question
I wouldn't worry about the fact that you are seeing hundreds of thousands of links from one site. It's not the number of links that make a link unnatural, but rather, whether the link is there primarily for SEO reasons. It sounds like this link is bringing you good traffic. It's probably a good one. Provided it's not a paid link or one that is there in exchange for something, I'd keep it as is.

Keywords Ranking Fluctuate
Hi Shaun, It is always difficult to diagnose issues like this without a little more info, so there are a couple of questions I would need to ask: When did you notice SERP movement again? You can often tie dates down by checking the Moz Algorithm History and by keeping an eye on MozCast, to watch for daily Google activity. What work (if any) was carried out prior to this movement? You are also able to annotate Analytics with information when changes were made (on or off-site). Great for keeping tabs on what was done when and impacts seen. -Andy

Has our site been attacked?
Hey there, Do you see any of these referrals on your reports 4webmasters, free-social-buttons, trafficmonetize... (there are many) If you do then you don't have to worry about security issues or anything apart from your data quality. You are not being attacked, at least personally, this type of spam is called ghost since it doesn't have any interaction with your site whatsoever and strikes many GA users. As I mention the only thing you should worry about (big thing though) is your data. Here is a related question on MOZ that will help you get rid of it, I strongly recommend you to follow the valid hostname solution. Hope it helps, Carlos

Google Caches Different URL
Hmmm... usually when we see this, it's some kind of implicit canonicalization, but clearly these sites have nothing at all in common and aren't remotely duplicates of each other. I'm not seeing any issues in the headers, either as a browser or as Googlebot, and the cache is very recent, so the problem isn't some legacy of weeks or months ago - it seems to be still happening. The cached page seems to reflect this one: http://www.sidelinemvp.com/nfl_personalized_jerseys.htm ...and I'm not seeing any bad headers or tags on that side either (?) The NFL site uses a content delivery network, and there's an off-chance something is seriously screwed up on that, but that's speculation at best. Looking at your indexed pages, via the site: operator, I'm seeing multiple indexed URLs that seem to redirect to another NFL site. For example: http://keesen.co.in/poolfelt.html This seems to set off a chain of 301-redirects and goes back to the home-page, but something very weird is happening here. Was your site hacked at some point? If you added the 301s to fix the hack, I'd suggest you actually let these bad URLs die (404 them). You may be mis-attributing some old/bad URLs to your home-page somehow.
