False Soft 404s, Shadow Bans, and Old User Generated Content
I solved most of the Soft 404s. I just had to change the URLs, submit a sitemap with the new URLs, and redirect the old URLs to the new ones. This impacted 85 URLs and as of now 60 are back in Google while the others are listed as discovered, but currently not indexed. I also added this HTML sitemap just for those URLs so that they are not orphaned. I am still puzzled by the initial Soft 404 status' however. The new URLs differ only in URL and everything else is the same.

Help Center/Knowledgebase effects on SEO: Is it worth my time fixing technical issues on no-indexed subdomain pages?
It's tough to tell without seeing the help & marketing pages. How similar are they? Generally, these are different as marketing pages generally talk more about user benefits where help pages are more tutorial based. It's likely as long as they aren't 1:1 matches (or very close) that they can both exist. In the rare event that the help center pages are an exact duplicate of existing marketing site pages, then in theory you should be able to 404/redirect those pages and not worry about them. If there's already another version of the page on the site than there's no need to manage it in two places. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Root domain change - should we update existing backlinks which include the redirect from the old root domain to the new one?
Hey Luke! You'll probably get varying answers here. I would say that if you can do it in a scalable time-efficient way, I'd reach out and ask for the domain to be updated. Technically it's better for your backlinks to point directly to your domain. However, 301 redirects should still pass authority. One thing I'd take a look at is that your old domain appears to use a redirect chain and 302 redirects: 301 http://showmyhomework.co.uk/ 63.35.118.60 server_redirect permanent https://showmyhomework.co.uk/ 302 https://showmyhomework.co.uk/ 63.35.118.60 server_redirect temporary https://www.satchelone.com/ 302 https://www.satchelone.com/ 54.77.121.55 server_redirect temporary https://www.teamsatchel.com/ 200 https://www.teamsatchel.com/ 63.35.118.60 normal none none I'd try improving this so there is no redirect chain and the 302 redirects are removed. This process could potentially be diluting the equity distribution.

CcTLD + Subdirectory for languages
Thanks Gaston for your answer on this! I will definitely not make a fast move here and will start with testing for sure. Are there are more people who can contribute to this or have experience with this topic? Thanks!

Homepage Ranking Issue
Hey Jamie! If you're a new site this might take time. Essentially Google needs to recognize your site as an entity which it may not have done yet. This might take some time as users might need to send Google signals by querying "home on the swan" and then adjusting their query and navigating to your result. With our clients, we've seen this can take some time but generally Google will start to rank new sites over time as it collects more behavioral data. In the meantime, you could try other things to improve your optimization: Add to the "Organization" schema you have on the home page and ensure the name property uses "Home On The Swan" Internally link to the home page using the anchor text "Home On The Swan" Generate backlinks using the text "Home On The Swan" P.S. I noticed that your site uses Shopify. This guide might also be helpful for you: https://moz.com/blog/shopify-seo

REL CANONİCAL
There is no SEO software can help you determine if you have implemented correctly the canonical links(which page you are targeting with optimization). What they can do is to notice you about the fact that you have a canonical link present on that specific page. Which data you can export and analyze. Unfortunately this means a lot of manual work for you or your team. Just think about the fact that you might Point a Canonical link from Page A -> Page A and from Page B-> Page B (because you have a script that will point a canonical to itself). Eventually these two pages are the same, it will be quite confusing to a search engine, right? Or Page A -> Page B, Page B-> Page C and so on... that's also something that you would like to avoid. Another case Page A -> Page B, Page B -> Page A. With exporting the data that SEOmoz gives you and analyzing it in Excel (or a similar program), you will have the chance to avoid these problems. I hope it helped and cleared the picture a little-bit Istvan

Technical SEO ??
I just took a look and it appears your site is indexed at least when I use the Google operators. I know that's not the best indicator though. I also ran a quick site crawl using screaming frog and nothing insidious jumped out at me. Here's a few things to check: Look at your search console account to see if your pages are indexed? Have you submitted an XML sitemap? Have you looked at your server logs? Based on your question it seems like your site is relatively new? If that's the case it will take some time to actually rank for more competitive terms. No need to worry just yet.

Permalink structure of an excising website
Hi there, Although there are many SEO articles and guides that encourage webmasters to use the keyword in the URL slug, in my experience with large websites there is no gain on doing that. Please, if you are optimizing a really small website on close to non-competed on SERPs, then there is a small chance that having your target keyword in the slug helps. I would spend my resources and time on optimizing content, technical debts and speed on those pages rather than this simple slug thing. Did I answer your question? Hope it helps. Best luck!

Which route is best for a SEO URL?
Hey Frances! Good question here. Most likely, the best solution is to host the content on a subdirectory of the same root domain ( www.mysite.com/mylove). You're right that if you create a new domains, you will need to build links/authority/trust to a completely new domain. This may make it more difficult for the page to compete in the SERPs. Keeping the same root domain will allow you to leverage any authority you've built.

Should internal links in my table of contents be tagged as nofollow?
Thanks Martijn. I am indeed referring to heading links with an anchor #. Just to confirm, these should not be tagged with nofollow? I'll take your advice and not fuss too much about the number of links. I just realised that it's also counting all 15 of my blog post sharing links. Anyway, I'm just perplexed at why these plugins even add the ability to make table of content links no follow and add tag if it would hurt SEO. They've even placed these settings under an SEO title. Do you think they know something we don't? screenshot-11.png

Spam score on a clean website assistance
Hi Duncan, What I suggest that you block receiving comments on your website if your website is not protected by SSL. It happens because hackers Inject spam links to redirect from the sites are not protected with SSL. I see now that you have SSL installed is it before the SSL was installed you had the spam issues? Secondly don't link or buy cheap back links from low DA/ PA websites that can increase the chances for spam on your website. I faced the same issue on my website and i removed few injected back links created on my word press before SSL Certificate was installed Also I suggest you to disavow links from your google console with the list and It can help you remove the spam back links. All the best
