  • I use the OSE to monitor more backlinks from competitors because it takes longer to show up the links. The links that appear quickly are Google WebmasterTools and Majestic SEO. But still take about a month : )

  • The only meta that I really care about is the Description. The others i let wordpress auto manage but im thinking in getting it out (the meta keyword) since it would be a hint to my competitors on wich keywords i have been optmizing for.

  • This is an interesting idea.To maximize your SEO benefits I would: Make the image link back to the post on my site not the image itself. Provide an alt attribute for the image tag Provide a title attribute for the link Image links have less value then text links.  How much benefit will this stategy really give you is tough to quantify. It depends on how many sites are republishing content from your RSS feed, what the quality of those sites are and how relevant the are to your site's industry. Having the image link back to a post on your site has the added benefit that if someone reads a post on another site on in their RSS feed and clicks the image they'll be taken to your post.  Every additional visit to your site is a chance to capture another new reader. Images don't have a ton of value.

  • If you feel you need to do this regardless of language, run a PHP if/then script looking for browser language.  Based on the language you can then set the 301 right in the script loop. Header( "HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently" ); Header( "Location: http://www.matchware.com/yourlanguagefolder/" ); ?> My question though is why would you not have at least one language be the default, and have that at the root home level (www.matchware.com/)

  • No problem at all, just make sure your domain is registered for a few years, not just one, so its taken as a serious long term business.

  • If it happens to be a wordpress site, there is a plugin called something like "Broken Link Checker." If I recall correctly, that checks internal and outbound links. Otherwise, not too sure.

  • Thanks to EVERYONE who gave me their 2 cents. I first heard of the ".co" when I saw a commercial for Overstock.co. It's interesting that they would start using this. I think that that says something. Now I'm not saying it will replace the .com but it's something to consider when a company like OverStock makes a .co purchase and campaign. Thanks to everyone! I'll be sure to post anymore info I read about it!

  • Russell, you'll want to take a second look at the .htaccess file. http://www.aboutaburningfire.com/index.html gives me a 404 error instead of going to the home page.

  • You could try other CSS methods to hide the content, like setting the height to 0 or positioning the element off screen.

  • The developer now claims that including a mon_page attribute (1&mon_page=1) within the URL will let Google know how our archiving system works and, thus, prevent us from being penalised for duplications. Any help is greatly appreciated. Trouble finding info on this.
