  • Is the detailed report showing check marks that "corporate catering" is in the meta description and other areas that it's not in? For what it's worth, corporate catering does appear in the URL, Title, and H1. It also is displayed in the nav bar.

  • Hi Kate, Thanks for your reply, im glad for yours and all others contribution, it really make me reflect on which direction i should choose. The whole page is an insurance page, but there is many different things you can do, you can buy insurance, calculate prize, make a claim and so on, so the frontpage has many purposes. The reason why i want to be ranked on the frontpage, is because it converts better, and im sure i can get it ranked higher, in the long run, because of the link building oppertunities i have on that page. So right now, it maybe would preferrebly to focus on /insurance, but in the long run i think the frontpage will be stronger. It's also important for me to underline, that im a part of a big company, and its not entirely up to me to decide changes and etc. on the homepage.

  • Thanks for the response Ryan and Keri. I am new to the world of SEO so didn't know this is considered to be black hat. When I entered this industry, I made a promise to myself to follow only and only white hat practices. Thanks for giving me an insight here. Are forum / web 2.0 profile links creation a part of Black Hat or using softwares to create them is considered to be black hat. Please help me out here and I'll do as you suggest.

  • But don't forget to remove that Disallow out of Robots.txt when you go live - if you want those pages to be indexed (and also the Meta-robots noindex nofollow). Otherwise you might be pulling your hair out trying to figure out why none of your pages are getting indexed in the SERPs.

  • I'd add on a make sure your WordPress & all plug-ins are up-to-date. I had a problem with this and it was due to a security flaw in an old version of WP.

  • What is a good amount of pages to have? Your long-term goal can be to have pages for all of the important keywords of your niche.  I have a site that I have worked on every day for years with employees and there is still an ocean of content that we can produce.  Endless job. I have another site in a much smaller niche that we are producing content to the point of keyword cannibalization.  The goal is to absolutely saturate the keyword range of the niche.

  • Hi Alsvik, Thank you for your answer. I have read that article before (and did read it again..:) ). However, that solution will help a lot, but I am not sure that it will solve all the problems that I expect will come.. What I am more concerned about is the Magento platform itself - it has bad reputation when it comes to creating DC - so will the above mentioned article do the trick, or is it simply impossible to avoid DC on Magento Platforms? • Aha - thank you so much.  I thought I had already checked my internal links but double-checked again after your response and you were completely correct.  There was a horrendous error with our code that led an example link being added to every page rather than the correct one.  Thank you helping me look in the right direction to find the solution!

  • The main too signals google looks ta are tld and ip number, so hosting in anouther country is a problem, but as stephen has said you can use GWMT to indicate what country you want to rank in, unfortunatly this only helps with google See matt cutts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXt23AXlJJU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keIzr3eWK8I

  • Thank you Dan (and Bill). In SEO talk, everything seems to boil down to getting ranked, but the more important thing, I've always thought, is helping readers (and the search engines) to understand what the page is about - but almost nobody talks about that.

  • I do wish you luck, Web Feat! Show the client the Google Places Quality Guidelines. Then, it's not just coming from you - it's coming from Google. Also, heads up: Google just changed the language again the guidelines. I wrote about this today, in case you are interested and it might help you in talking with the client: http://www.solaswebdesign.net/wordpress/?p=1205 Have a good rest of your weekend!

  • Alan, nice cat! As you can see I am not technical, but I will give to the guys that are on Monday morning. My programming staff always laughs at how I explain things. I have never heard anyone explain the difference between a forward and a back slash like that before, but I am sure I will never forget it now! Thank you very much!

  • nonsense. Search for https://www.google.com.au/search?q=inurl%3Arobots.txt&pws=0 Some of the first results with visible robots.txt I see are: google.com facebook.com wikipedia.com seobook.com I refuse to believe that "something is seriously wrong" with any of these sites.
