Changing .html to .asp in URLs
Hi Kevin, O French and Dr Pete, Thanks for your input - I'm being told a 301 isn't possible but looking at your comments we can do it and I'll push for it. Thanks so much for all of your help Bush

My site has a "Reported Web Forgery!" warning
Hi: your two quite similar domains may be the reason that make google and bing confused, have you tried filling these forms: http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/report_error/?tpl=mozilla or check this one: http://www.stopbadware.org/home/reviewinfo and a question ,do both of your domains redirected to same content? Good Luck ! Arta

Odd Google Indexing Issue
Maybe Google crawled your site just while you were fiddling with it? With my sites I have seen test pages get indexed & wonky pages show up for a short while until the next indexing.

Moz Crawl Reporting Duplicate content on "template" styled pages
Thanks Andrew, we do have a scholarship description unique for each but some are very short. It might not be enough of a difference in text for the robot.

Why do some serps have a + map symbol?
Hi Again, David, I've had a chance to talk this other with a few other Local SEOs, and here is the consensus of opinion on the Plus Box. 1. It's algorithmically generated - so nothing you can do to force a plus box on your listing. 2. That being said, following Google's general recommendations on this page might be useful: http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=92319&from=52171&rd=1 3. Also, be advised that there appears to be some kind of a new crackdown going on regarding plus boxes and certain businesses who have lost Google's trust seeing their plus boxes disappear. This is a new issue and I don't have any solid data on it. But, it leads me to ask...did you have a plus box before and see it go missing? Curious! Hope this reply helps some. Miriam

Is it worth setting up 301 redirects from old products to new products?
As a follow up to this post, we launched the new site 3 weeks ago and seen a site-wide drop in SERPS Of course there could be other variables involved, but we pushed ahead with the new product db without 301-ing the old products to new products as when we tried to do it, it was a far too time consuming exercise trying to pair up all the URLs in Excel. Google has already indexed the new pages so hopefully the new site structure will not cause long term damage. In the mean time trying to 301 redirect as many of the best performing old product pages (as per Page Authority in the PRO crawl diagnostic tool).

Should I change my host
Thanks for replies. I have decided to take the financial hit and drop the dutch server in favour of a UK one. Hopefully the ranking increase and the extra traffic covers this loss Thanks, Carl

New URL or Folder Off Existing Site
I sometimes find that a subdomain (e.g. theme.regionalsite.com) doesn't index as well well either. I haven't tried that approach for quite some time though.

When criteria do you use for external linking?
I link out to other sources frequently too - I work on this principle - will linking to another site enrich this information for the person reading it. Linking to others sites when appropriate is only natural for building a great online resource, which I think is what we all want, that is why we spend time creating great content and marketing our sites online, working on optimization strategies etc. Whether you are selling products, services or blogging creating a site that is a rich resource with great content should always be your aim as this will lead to increases in all aspects, so don't be afraid to add links to other sites if you think it would help the visitor to your site - a website with a link profile that does this looks the most natural..

Trading longer load time for greater link potential
I put everything that I have into the page. Six nice photos, two videos, a couple of charts and 3000 words - plus ads. Be sure that you optimize the photos and have a good server with caching.

Canonical usage and duplicate content
A canonical tag tells the search engine to give credit to another page, where you have duplicates you can say that this is the page i want to give credit for this content. Prev and next tell goolge to give the credit for all the content on a series of pages to the one page, usually page one. You can use a canonical with a prev and next when you have other parrameters such as sortby=???, this would say that no matter how you sort this page, i want you to only see the canonical version, and that all the credit for all the canonical versions of these pages should be give to page one

Sub-domains for keyword targeting? (specific example question)
No, they did all of their research just about that. Trust me, they can tell. Try to limit the number of ads, don't remove them, just limit to no more than 2 per page.
