Sort parameters and overly dynamic URLs
Hit the Good Answer button! lol. My pleasure James, let's see if anyone else comes and adds some value, but I feel that what I've said is quite accurate and it's how I would have done it.

Does Having Links on this blog Hurt or Help?
Well plastic-bins.com does not have a page rank, but it is definitely relevant to your website. I really don't think it would hurt your rankings. I would choose a related long tail keyword that is not too difficult but still has some search volume (that you are not optimizing on the actual website) and optimize for it on the blog. Try to get visitors to the blog through that keyword and then send them to an internal landing page on your website via anchor text with a keyword you are optimizing for on that internal page. Maybe that could help generate some traffic and conversions...

Duplicate content q - Can search engines tell where the original text was copied from?
Not sure canonical tags work that way! You use the canonical tag to provide the search engines with the "official" URL of your content. This is especially useful when you're using a CMS that delivers your content on a number of alternate urls. It won't help search engines determine the "owner" of the content. Matt Cutts has said that Google is getting better at identifying the original owner of the site, but it's not perfect. Google don't have a magic way of seeing everything that goes on, they have to crawl which takes time. I don't know if it would help if you manually submit your page to google using the Google Webmaster tools / fetch as googlebot option as soon as you purplish your page. Might help get your page into the index first. Not exactly a scalable approach if you're publishing a lot of material though. One of the best ways of protecting yourself is to embed relevant (absolute) links into the body of your content pointing to related articles on your own site. One website I'm working on gets a surprising number of referrals that way! Oh,also think about adding links to your new content from some of your older content, if it's relevant and makes sense to do so. Authorship markup might also help.

Linking Domains in Open Site Explorer Report No Longer Exist. Help.
This is the case as far as I'm aware, and Keri seems to have confirmed it below. Chances are that Google has already taken note of some of the links so I would imagine you will be seeing changes over the next few weeks / months as it finds out these links no longer exist. If the domains have expired, removing them isn't something you can do as they already don't exist.

What are the potential SEO downsides of using a service like unbounce for content pages?
Hi, I'm the person behind SEO at Unbounce. There is no technical SEO drawback. Unbounce allows you to directly control all of the elements of your on-page SEO. You can even employ rel="canonical" if you are so inclined to indicate which variation Google should pay the most attention to. If you have any questions feel free to contact me: Carlos@unbounce.com

Dedicated ip helpful for seo
Yeah but the bad thing is when a Chinese scammer buys the s, and rips a bunch of people off, and those people file rip off reports on the scammer. because those reports will still come up under your domain. We had one buy our domain a few yrs ago with (the) in front of it, and for months we were getting phone calls for people looking for their ipad 2, and Nike shox

Using Robots.txt
Not sure if that would work, but you can test by changing your robots.txt and running a test in GWT > Health > Blocked URLs You might also be interested in specifying specific URL paraments (e.g. /?sort=name&order=asc > can block sort and order parameters) from within GWT (Configuration > URL Parameters) Learn more about parameters - https://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1235687

Block or remove pages using a robots.txt
Yes, that is correct. Once you have it set up, you can test what pages are blocked in your GWT account. Health > Blocked URLs > select which bot you want to test at the bottom of the page. Will invalid HTML code generated by WordPress affect SEO efforts?
Thanks for the quick reply, it's much appreciated. I had guessed that it wouldn't be a major issue, but wanted to be a bit more certain before going ahead with the WordPress site for the client. The errors certainly don't have a negative effect on the sites' layout, content, usability or load times. From what I can tell they are due to the theme making use of iframes and video embeds in a non-standard manner. The rest of the HTML is sound. As you also mentioned, it does seem to be related to the theme the client wants to use, as with other themes I can get valid HTML code output.

302 error removing site from results
As for issue #4. I believe that is where they used to have pages for each dimension of a product. So it would be upper level, sub level, product level. Some products have hundreds of the same thing but with one inch different so they removed those pages and redirected them.

Index page 404 error
There is also the chance that an external website is linking to you incorrectly in which case you you you could contact them and ask them to change it. As Moosa suggested a 301 redirect would be the simplest solution.

Advice and Opinions Required Regarding creating new pages for similar keywords
Yip, thats what i thought.. .Thanks David.. I don't feel confident about doing this, so will try convince the the powers that be to agree. The advice to do this was given by a reputable SEO, so if convincing the PTB that its not such a great idea doesn't work, we'll just test this process with a few pages of less importance and see what happens. Thanks again.. Greg
