  • It can be frustrating, but definitely give any change time to work (unless it seems like it's actually harming you). It can take Google a long time to re-index/re-cache deep pages, even if they visit your site daily.

  • a little off topic * Making one great site is my mode of operation and I have published lots of articles contributed by others.  In years past the other authors simply gave me articles because they wanted to share information about "a subject of their personal expertise" with the many people who visit my website. These articles usually have an author photo and a couple sentences about them at the bottom of the article and a link to their website or their email address. Google's penguin efforts seem to have produced an explosion of people who are offering content for the purpose of getting a link.  Most of this content is crap.  Some of it is "average" quality (which I don't publish) but some excellent material can be offered.  So now I am deciding if I want to accept some of this content, knowing that it is excellent content but also aware that I could be publishing links going to sites that could have past, present or future manipulation - and I don't want to get into link profile analysis on top of the content evaluation work. I have not seen any articles about the publisher site of post-penguin linking.

  • Hi Greg - I've done this and resubmitted the sitemap, but I'm now getting severe health warnings saying that robots.txt is blocking important pages. I've run our robots.txt file through the tester in Webmaster tools and it is saying allowed, however I'm obviously concerned about the warnings. Have you experience of anything like this? Thanks Rory

  • Ok I figured it out for anyone that wants to know. <% If InStr(Request.ServerVariables("SERVER_NAME"),"www") = 0 Then Response.Status="301 Moved Permanently" Response.AddHeader "Location","http://www.xxxxx.com" & request.ServerVariables("URL") & Request.ServerVariables("QUERY_STRING") Response.End Else If InStr(Request.ServerVariables("SERVER_NAME"),"xxxxx.com") = 0 then Response.Status="301 Moved Permanently" Response.AddHeader "Location","http://www.xxxxx.com" & request.ServerVariables("URL") & Request.ServerVariables("QUERY_STRING") Response.End end if End if %>

  • We send out millions of emails a year and are happy with Vertical Response as our provider. We keep researching the competition and have found that Constant Contact is exceptionally easy to use, Bronto integrates well with all other Social Media / marketing platforms, MailChimp is a joy to work with but Vertical Response just keep cutting their prices! Hope this helps!

  • ccTLD and Sub directories both are valid but it is preferable to use subdirectory instead of ccTLD. By the way duplicate content can be a huge issue in that case weather you go for anything ccTLD, sub directory and even the different domain. I would highly recommend using the sub directory with a unique text in it! Or use the different language (same content under different language won’t be a problem!)

  • Google test things from time to time and this something causes a fluctuation on few of the key terms and websites that are ranking for those key terms...I think you should be too much possessive about rankings and should not really check tit on regular basis... I think you should stop thinking about this for few days and then you will notice the rankings stabled at one point... normally fluctuations are the market of the process so don’t take this too seriously.

  • Correct once /login gets redirected to https://www.example.com/login all nav links etc are https What I ended up doing was blocking /login in robots and now doing canonicals on https as well as nofollow the /login link that is in the nav that redirects Willl see what happens now.

  • No it will not. I like to use brandkeyword for my domain... If my brand name is: White Blue Green Red and my keyword was "color" I would look for the url : WBGRcolor.com if it's available...

  • Hi Nakul, NOODP tag was added months ago as we have seen such instances earlier with other clients in the same niche.
