  • We have a similar thread going, and I believe it may help resolve some of your questions concerning the trailing slash:  http://www.seomoz.org/q/trailing-slash-and-rel-canonical

  • Yeah those are some good points. 3 of the keywords are in the top 20, the other 2 in the top 50. I was thinking about clipping the lower performing keywords to focus more on the other 3. The 3 that are in the top 20 have around 25k exact searches per month but are a little broad. I think I am going to leave it for now but keep an eye on it.... I will watch it over the next few weeks as I get started working on the site. Hopefully as I become more familiar with the site/niche the answer will be more clear. Thanks for the valuable information!

  • 1. I prefer you, to use subdomains. 1.1 Than every subdomains, connect with an local hosting provider. for example, for a New York, use a nyc hosting provider, with an ip located on new york 1.2 Earn local backlinks, from local directories, events, businesses, another sources etc. Stay away from "Duplicate Content  or ON-PAGE Factors". I think, this is the best solution. And try to use only 2-3 characters of each franchis eand not completely name. Because you can place the name of franchise on the title, example: Brandname Dallas. Hope it works.

  • Dana is correct - you need to ride the wave a little while Google looks at all of the changes and then recalculates where you should be. Something else, how have you been dealing with the duplicated content? If a change in content on landing pages has happened, it could be worth using CrazyEgg and looking at a heatmap of those pages to see where people are the most active. Can be a real eye-opener! Really need to know more about how the changes were made before we can look at other possible reasons. Andy

  • Hey Graeme I am unsure of any specific guidelines with regards to HTML special characters but I would tend to keep my page titles to the agreed and safe characters. In this instance, the page title is totally fine but ascii has been abused in page titles in years gone by to create more catchy looking SERP listings. (¯'·.¸(¯'·.¸Free X !!! Click Here !!!¸.·'´¯)¸.·'´¯) You may find a variety of things happen and your titles get rewritten. One other point or perspective - you mention that Googlebot sees the ascii code but a human sees the bullet character. Well, where? How does your SERP listing look? If the page title in the search engine results looks like this: My Product • Category | Site Name Then, I would say that is a pretty good reason to do away with the special characters. If this was me, I would keep it simple, stick with the best practices and make do with standard characters to break up your title tags: - | etc. Some links that may help: http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/title-tag http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=35624 Hope that helps! • You mean to display just one subsidiary website regarding the default language ? By the way does someone know any good post on the sub domain links with the main domain ?

  • Hi Nigel You only need to 301 one of the pages, 301 is indicating a permanent move, so in the case you outlined above, I would 301, A to B the decisions to use B was based soly off the value of the url you indicated.  If for any reason you prefer the url's not use trailing slash then use A. It also would not hurt to add a canonical tag to B To be clear here, whether you use website.com/index.php/dog/walk or website.com/index.php/dog/walk/ Does not matter as far as SEO is concerned, I would make my decision based off of which url has the highest position in Google, and be consistent with this method throughout my site. Hope that helps,

  • It's up to you, but I have to agree that using different emails might be the best way especially if you think you might be losing the accounts later on.   Handing them over might be an issue in the future if you only use one account.  Who wants an angry and nasty client, after all?

  • Greenhornet I thought I had replied to this but it doesn't show up. Google can be handled by post card and we send the client a shot of the post card and how it will look with instructions to disseminate the info so no one throws it out with junk mail. If you are handling a lot of Google + clients, you can set it up where you manage all the accounts from one dashboard and all you are waiting on are their codes. If you need a bit of help, PM me and I will have our coordinator walk you through the process once. Best
