My Alexa ranking dropped after a 301 redirect is that bad?
Hi Cameron you can find Fiddler at http://fiddler2.com/ It provides each and every header response cascading through the page load. It can be very useful in sniffing out exactly what's going on rather than a single header report test.

Open Site Explorer Question
Thanks for the reply, I actually noticed something after testing this the internal linking ...the company logo points to default.asp and the sitewide 'home' points to /...I agree that that should be fixed. Now the next question is what the deuce is Default.asp?

Auto Generated Title by Google in SERP
This happens far more frequently than you probably assumed. I do however find it amusing that one search will return my page with the correct title and then a similar search will return my page with an altered title. Seems almost silly that a synonym can completely change how my site's information appears in the SERPs... but it happens. On a positive side though, sometimes that may actually help to make you more relevant to a search you didn't think of while not hurting your positions for the terms you're trying to rank for.

Are Tags in Blogs good?
I agree with both Alan and Mike, there is no real SEO value you will gain from using tags on your blog. As Mike says, usability is probably the only reason to use tags. If you're using WordPress, Dan Shure posted a pretty good article on setting up WordPress for SEO last May.

Https Duplicate Content
Unfortunately, I think this may not only be the best option, but the only option. You can't NOINDEX or use rel=canonical if the https pages aren't resolving, so you would have to do the redirects in .htaccess. Unfortunately, messing with .htaccess for anything sitewide can get pretty tricky, and a little dangerous. I believe this code should work, but I'm not sure about any quirks in WordPress or specifics of your site implementation: http://www.highrankings.com/forum/index.php/topic/35833-how-do-i-redirect-https-to-http-on-my-site/ You may want a WordPress specialist to take a look.

Duplicate Content - Reverse Phone Directory
If I would be at your place I would have used the idea that you come up with... add user generated content but do check the GUC section you are adding it should not contain an iframe or else there will be no use of it.

Is possible to reutilize products description taken from mydomain.com in a ecommerce site?
Hello William, In the future it would be best to start a new thread for your own question, but this time I will answer this here since it is related to the one above. Yes, you should use a cross domain rel canonical tag, as it could be harming BOTH sites to have that duplicate content out there. You could rewrite the titles and descriptions for one or the other, but I would not rely on Google to "know" which one you want to rank without harming the other.

404 and re directs from an old design to a new one
It sounds like you are just moving the content to a new directory and not changing the filename, correct? If so you can handle that with a single line of code in your htaccess file assuming you are on a Linux server and have access to that file. Most content management systems will probably have some sort of plugin/module for that too. Yes, redirect them so the pagerank earned from external links into the old URL will move on to the new URL. It is a simple thing to fix that could have a profound impact on rankings if those old pages had external links. By the way, update all internal links so you are linking to the new URL instead of relying on the redirects to do that for you. This is just best practice and good housekeeping.

Website not crawled
This page references several reasons why only one page may be crawled. If it isn't any of these reasons, please contact our help desk. Thanks! https://seomoz.zendesk.com/entries/409821-Why-Isn-t-My-Site-Being-Crawled-You-re-Not-Crawling-All-My-Pages-

Canonical tag problem
Are you sure it says you "don't" have the canonicals? What section is it under? IE Warnings, Notices, etc.. ?? Because often times SEOmoz will tell you in Notices that you DO have canonical tags in place. This might be causing your confusion? It's not a report of a problem at all, just to make you aware.

Frequently getting 404 errors in GWT
Hi Atul, The links from the blog you mention look like automated spam links that could be being generated for a number of reasons. If you have no relationship with this blog and have no way of contacting the webmaster then there might not be a lot you can immediately do to get rid of these links. Since they are going to 404 pages on your site anyway, as I mentioned previously I would not worry about them too much. What I would worry about is what perfect007 mentioned also which is the errors that are appearing on your 404 page. You have many missing images, most if not all of the page's links lead to other 404 pages and your meta robots line is telling the search engines to follow all of these bad links. Your 404 page in short has many coding errors and these errors seem to be making the problem of the spam links worse because for every incoming spam link you have, your 404 page is creating even more bad links for google to crawl. My advice would be to clean up the errors on your 404 page first. That should reduce the number of 404 errors you see in GWT that are being created from your own page. Once that is done you will have a better idea of how many external spam links are being created over time and with that information you may assess your next moves. In the first instance you could change the meta robots line to: Which would at least stop the search engines from indexing the page and following the broken links on it. Hope that helps.

Duplicate Page Title
Hi mcardenal. Given you're a newbie you might just need to walk yourself thru the site and make sure all your title and description tags are unique. Your site is not huge. I would start with a screaming frog crawl of your site. The basic software is free. It's an extremely easy way to crawl your site and quickly and easily find duplicate tags. If you're looking for a more indepth answer to your question, keep reading. A standard Wordpress installation isn't SEO friendly. But you're in luck! Back in February there was an advanced SEO webinar hosted by SEOMoz and lead by Nick Herinckx. Nick explains what you need to do maximize your findability. Here's the link to the webinar - http://www.seomoz.org/webinars/advanced-wordpress-seo. It runs about an hour and a half including Q&A, but it's well worth your time to watch it. You have unnecessary repetition in your tagline as well. "Conquer student student debt!" You might want to fix that at the same time.

Anyone See This Before? Google Following Links that are Not Hyperlinks
Had a bit of a dig and found this post which seems to confirm the reference being followed such as it is although not clear if any real ranking benefit. http://dejanseo.com.au/seo-experiment-with-non-link-references/ Certainly is an interesting case and I agree nice to be able to 'fix' these errors and if there is some seo side benefits of any kind, so much the better!

LSI keywords logic - enter in meta and bold in text?
Actually, more so that I "show" search engines what is important to me, guessing that it will then maybe give me some ranking boost. Thanks, nice answer

Hi, I am little bit confused in 301 redirect
Hi Amarjit, If you set up the preferred domain in Google Webmaster, in reality that should be fine for most SEO purposes. That said, it's still best practices to redirect visitors to one version or another. It's doubtful you'll see much SEO benefit from it, but it might make things easier from a consistancy point of view, and it's long been a regular practice of most SEOs. You can read more about it here: http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/redirection Best of luck!
