  • The best way would be for you to choose a method that works and keep it consistent. I'd go with S355G10-M

  • the http URL will not work on an https page. I have changed the URL to https and it works in http and https sites. Thank you.

  • Well, it sounds like it may not be worth the brain damage to make the change.  Is that what I'm hearing? If that's the case, I'm good with that!

  • I'm not looking for a tool to tell me yes or no, and I have the scores I want...I've been pretty clear about that. Why is it you assume wanting to know information, means something nefarious? I inherited a site I didn't build, and I'm trying to fix it. I can't do that without knowing how things are measured. If you don't want to help, don't help. You don't need to accuse me or take things personally, because I'm a competitor.

  • Hi, I personally would disavow it, especially if you under some sort of penalty. The site has an ok DA but with 7,000 links pointing to your site it could look unnatural. Kind Regards

  • I'd suggest having your developer(s) add a redirect to step 1 in the case that no tracking/form information is being passed when going to wwww.exmaple.com/step2. Meaning, if I open wwww.exmaple.com/step2 from Google, information I'd have filled out in step 1 isn't present, so I'd then be redirected to wwww.exmaple.com/step1. If you don't have visitors filling out anything in step 1, you can still have a cookie passed when going to step 2. However, if I've gone through step 1, clicking on a link to step 2 will act normally. That's the best I can think of as an alternative. Keep in mind that this is only a suggested alternative, however. I don't know enough about your funnel, process, or product to say if this would have any impact otherwise. Good luck!

  • I would not recommend changing URL structure unless you have a very good reason to do so. Worrying about kw density on a decently readable, nice URL should not be reason to recommend a total URL rewrite.

  • LOL. Sounds like an opportunity for an upsell to me I'd look for some variants where the home page does rank 1 and say "well, here's something we managed to arrange for you....."

  • That depends on how often users come to the site. If 90% of visitors are new the UX issue doesn't exist. If 5% are then you'll soon get feedback as to whether it is driving them nuts or not

  • As with the previous comments, I would of suggested sticking with Kawasaki.com as it is already a world reknowned brand. However I can see that kawasakirobotics.com is already a live entity. If you are going to stick with the two domain names, make sure that you point a couple of links back from the brand name to pass a little authority. Then maybe work on getting the robotics brand out there with a bit of a link building campaign to other releveant robotic and manufacturing based websites. Hope this helps a little.

  • Thanks!  Unfortunately we can't change platforms for this, Volusion was chosen for its e-commerce capabilities and relatively non-technical backend interface.

  • As the other guys have mentioned, implementing 301 redirects correctly is the key when moving over to https. Adding to Google Webmaster Tools is a bonus and something you should do if possible. However this recent article on Marketing Land highlights a few issues that have been encountered by websites moving to https, so it's worth reading through this too so that you can avoid the issues mentioned: http://marketingland.com/snags-googles-ssl-vision-sites-can-get-tripped-quest-secure-web-97266

  • My main experience with A/B is via Google Experiments and it looks like they highlight option 4: To ensure that serving your variation pages does not have a negative impact on your site's SEO rankings, you can use therel="canonical" link attribute on your variation pages. rel="canonical" is a signal to search engines that the content of your variation pages is essentially the same as that of your original page, and that you would prefer that search engines index your original page rather than the variations you're using in your experiment. Source: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/2613318 If you roll out rel=canonical correctly then this seems to be your safest bet in Google's eyes. My main experience is with split-testing single pages, but theoretically this should work out okay with the correct use of canonical. If you're really not sure you could roll out a mini-test with a couple of key pages first?

  • Well, Google say you are, and this is what it's used for The snippet from that page explains exactly what you are trying to do. https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/189077?hl=en No, you want to self canonicalise as well - remember, each page will be seen as unique in Google's eyes. -Andy

  • Hi, With it having been a manual link penalty, I would say that you need to concentrate on some new quality links, rather than op-page items. However, just make sure you don't fall into any dangerous traps - you don't want to risk any more penalties. -Andy

  • Hello, my old htaccess buddy! Let's say, perhaps, that a person wanted to change her main company blog from www.legacytravel.com/ramblings to www.legacytravel.com/blog. Of course, all of the traffic would need to be re-directed.  the htaccess currently says: BEGIN WordPress <ifmodule mod_rewrite.c="">RewriteEngine On RewriteBase /ramblings/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule . /ramblings/index.php [L]</ifmodule> END WordPress Would it be appropriate / effective to add something there that directs everything in light of the renaming of that subfolder? Again, thank you in advance.
