  • There is some indication that Google may discount content hidden in tabs or click to expand, even if it is genuine content. (John Mueller of Google said this in a Google + hangout--see this article by Barry Schwartz on the topic.)

  • I'll have to dig deeper than my local big-box retail store.  This is a url from a random screw at Home Depot: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Grip-Rite-8-x-2-1-2-in-Phillips-Bugle-Head-Coarse-Thread-Sharp-Point-Polymer-Coated-Exterior-Screws-1-lb-Pack-PTN212S1/100173447 This product exhibits the issue.  Product name, size (8 x 2 1/2), style (Phillips, Bugle Head), Thread (Coarse), Point (sharp), Coating  etc.

  • Hi there Don't block pages or directories because they have duplicate/missing titles - instead, fix them - those pages may provide value and you could be missing some big opportunities. "...we can leave things as is without worrying about the page being de-ranked/penalized." - you're blocking the page in your robots.txt, so you're already not being indexed. If you are looking to index these pages, you need to remove that robots.txt. Go through, assess your titles and page content, and change your titles to be uniquely relevant to the content on that page. If you have the opportunity as well, do a content audit to see if pages can be condensed or expanded. Hope this all helps! Good luck!

  • Hi! I had the luck to talk with a joomla developer and he gave me a solution that sounds too easy for me. The duplication is generated by the categories.  Therefore we set up all the menu items like index, follow and categories like no index no follow. He said it works perfectly for him. I cant believe it is so easy. I will make a trial and let you know if that solves it.

  • Hi Ravi When you select "Text-only version", it's showing you the way that Googlebot, or potentially other robots and crawlers, see your website. This is an important tool because it can tell you if Google is picking up content on your site. If you see nothing, then Google can't see your content, and you need to change this. Luckily for you, Google is seeing content. However, it looks like you may be missing some basic SEO opportunities on this page - take a look at On-Page Factors. Here's a good post from Boostability Blog and SEO Theory with some good information on Google's cache. Hope this all helps! Good luck!

  • If this was my site, I would stop linking to tag pages and search results pages.  I would also block them from being indexed. It is very possible that the search results pages are causing issues.  Google said back in 2007... "Typically, web search results don’t add value to users, and since our core goal is to provide the best search results possible, we generally exclude search results from our web search index. " Matt Cutts comments about it here and on a similar subject here.

  • Thanks for the information. I don't know how to and don't think I have access to change those settings on my sitemap with my current website provider. I'll send this information to them and see if they know what the problem is. Google seems to update daily, so there must be a setting that Bing doesn't like.

  • Hi Dirk My opinion somewhat varies. They have been requesting webmasters unblock css, js and images for some time now so they can evaluate the layout and design with their algo. Most of the elements I mentioned can be done algorithmically. The poor font color, the lact of padding / margins, the lack of social buttons, poor text readability because of no line breaks. I'm wary of user engagement metrics, especially as being reported 3rd hand. Side-note - as we all know, they do have a "mobile-friendly" UX test, which evaluates basically the same types of things for mobile - there's no reason they can't for desktop but just haven't told us.

  • So Mr King, would it be reasonable to say that personalizing all locations but California would keep us out of trouble? Thanks Mike!

  • Hi Matt, This answers my question perfectly. Everything we sell is 'designer goods' including tables, wardrobes, sideboards etc you name it. My only concern was to have the word 'designer' too many times in the URL as it would look a little spammy, but as you described we can just keep the word 'designer' for the parent page and leave it out for the sub-categories. We used SEM Rush and noticed a competitor doing really well in the SERPs and they have all their category path URLs removed so I was just curious if this had an impact on SEO, as the URLs looks short and user friendly. • Jennifer, Some of your pages still reference http images - example https://www.tsheets.com/proadvisors-we-trust.php calls image http://cdn.tsheets.com/images/pros/denise-loter-koch.png "Your connection to www.tsheets.com is encrypted with obsolete cryptography. However, this page includes other resources which are not secure. These resources can be viewed by others while in transit, and can be modified by an attacker to change the look of the page." This is probably the reason for the 804 errors in Moz. You should also check your internal links - some of them still point to the http version which is then again redirected to the https version Example https://www.tsheets.com/infographics/time-tracking-infographic-hr-industry links to http://www.tsheets.com/infographics/time-tracking-infographic which is then redirected to https. Unrelated to the https - but you might want to optimise the image on https://www.tsheets.com/online-invoicing-and-billing/ (https://www.tsheets.com/online-invoicing-and-billing/images/main-image-billing.png) rgds Dirk

  • That's pretty much it. Wordpress is pretty easy to setup with https. As for the question of this thread. You already did it since you inserted all versions to GWT.Google will do the rest as long as you've properly set all to direct to https. Youll see your webmaster stats for http drop like a fly to https and youll see an (almost) instant upwards with your line in your https impressions.

  • Thanks Dan, but I have registered the right URL (http). However today I have again 100% indexed from the submitted URLs (changed nothing). Really Crazy. Cheers, Heiko

  • Hello, Well, there are some strategies to avoid duplicity like adding extra text to your job profile pages (the content at your header, footer, H1, etc... everything counts!!!), that only you will have and other sites won't. So, problem solved....! In terms of Google penalizations, I won't be worried, since normally the content even if it's repeated at other sites like monster or gumtreem, the content is not spammy and Google (and Matt Cutts) know it. Hope it helps! Luis

  • Unspecified Type : http://abcd.com Node is empty. Double check that this is desired and consider removing. How to solve this error? Field ratingValue may not be empty. One of ratingCount or reviewCount must be provided. For any new product there will not be any rating so how to solve this error?

  • It was kind of humorous, at first. It's now showing as returning organic traffic. Direct link to screencap from the original post: 1WnZK0p.png
