  • I had a friend who used this tool and said it did not help them in any way and found it a complete waste of their time. The advertising patter sounds great but the performance does not match up with the marketing

  • what I would suggest you do is Google the average time someone gets a response from dmoz unfortunately I believe you'll find a lot of people waiting years not just 2 weeks. They are all essentially volunteers and there aren't enough of them to keep up with the work. I would not worry about that directory it had its day and it's a directory after all. You can get much better links using different tactics found here in SEOmoz than you ever will by registering your site with dmoz I'm in agreement with you to leave it there and see if it works. I hope it does definitely do the Google search. But if it tells you something that doesn't agree with or I'm saying please let me know because I would be shocked. glad I was able to help sincerely, Tom

  • Use those General Directories if they include your a section for your industry. Squidoo - turned to crap because of article marketers re-spinning content. Got HAMMERED by Google. I'm not putting my clients in Squidoo.

  • Thank you both! You've confirmed what I believed. Just wanted to be on the safe side.

  • Is it DA the most significant metric you're looking at? What about other metrics? Maybe this has something to do with your DA dropping a bit: Mozscape API Temporarily Rolled Back to March 19 Index ?

  • I agree with Brad - However, you may find these links start to disappear. Lot's of these directories feature 'recent profiles' or 'new links' in the sidebar / footer etc, which causes your link to appear everywhere the template is repeated. They may reduce down to 2 or 3 links from this site over the coming weeks

  • I can't say for sure who you could talk to unfortunately. I've heard from a handful of sources that the Yahoo Directory is operating on a skeleton crew, to say the least, and they're not very prompt with rebilling and similar maintenance.

  • Not necessarily inevitable. Without seeing your site and backlink profile it's hard to say. And even if I could I wouldn't say anything definitive when it comes to Google and their spam team. But I would say your gut might be telling you the chances are high, and you should listen to your gut. That's what I did and sure enough here we are... I told everyone here that it was inevitable and we were screwed and to expect a huge drop off in traffic any day now and less quote requests. None of that happened and I think/hope it's due to my efforts to rectify this issue. It is a huge job. The good news is I get paid for it and it wasn't my doing in the first place so I get to come out the hero (if I continue to succeed). You can do the same!! Good luck! Like I said, keep us posted.

  • Looks like they don't watch their own <a target="_blank">site </a>very well (see all the viagra,  laser removal and everything else in the comment section). I believe a company "selling" content services, but don't monitor what is on there site could be a sign not to use them.

  • Still not sure about that. I did this with one of my websites I didn't care much about and it went to hell after that.

  • Hi Rogerio, mememax is correct in that the content won't be counted the way you're hoping. You can use an iframe embed code with a link outside of it, however: <iframe></iframe> Built by Brand Name. This will not count the links inside of the iframe, however, but it's another option if you're trying to embed dynamic content of some kind.

  • Hey Edgard, I agree with both of the responses above - you've got a good site design with good content. Don't worry about pagerank in general. For offsite link analysis and monitoring the authority of your domain over time, you're better off monitoring the following metrics in Open Site Explorer or the SEOMoz PRO tool: Page Authority of the homepage Domain Authority Total Linking Root Domains to the entire site Those are the metrics that we focus on for client link building campaigns. To learn more about link building start with the Beginner's Guide to SEO section on link building, and take a look through Moz blog posts in the link building category: http://www.seomoz.org/beginners-guide-to-seo/growing-popularity-and-links http://www.seomoz.org/blog/category/link-building

  • It is going to be a better strategy to focus on building links that are higher DA and Trust than building a ton of links very quickly. Focus on building links from multiple domains rather than just getting a lot of links from a few domains (such as sidebar links).

  • Can you write case studies of how a business improved x and increased efficiency and reduced costs by having their company records scanned and available in a digital format? Perhaps subscribe to HARO (Help A Reporter Out) and look for reporters writing about topics where your service could be of assistance.
