Should I pay to be in the Yahoo! Directory or whatever it is now?
Hey Saddat, That's a different question. I suggest you either search the Q&A to see if it has already been answered (and I believe it has), or post it as a new question. You'll get more attention that way.

Links to www version of my site, but we are on http - is this a problem?
Hi James, In a video from Matt Cutts in 2013, he stated that you will experience a small loss in PageRank, of an equal proportion to the loss experienced by a hyperlink. The consensus seems to be that it will pass between 90-99% of the PageRank. My suggestion is not to stress about it. If you've implemented a 301 redirect from the "www" version to the "non www" version you should be just fine. Just my two cents.

More than one link on an external website
No, you're absolutely right Patrick. The answer is, an external site (emphasis on "site") can pass link equity to more than one page on your site. An external page can too, provided those links are pointing to different pages on the recipient site. If, for example, Site A has a footer link that points to Site B's home page, those links will be devalued or penalized by Google because they're unnatural and rarely viewed or clicked on by users. If Site A feels compelled to use them, they should be nofollowed, effectively telling Google you're not trying to game the system. If, on the other hand, Site A has a unique link on Page X that points to Site B, AND it adds value, AND it's a follow link, then it will pass value. If Site A has two identical outgoing links on the same page or if one of those links is identifical except for the anchor text, then only the first will pass value. If site A has unique links on Page X that point to different pages on Site B, AND they add value, AND they are follow links, then they will pass value.

When we use 'link:' for who get the link, how come google show us the same domain as a link.
Thanks for your information. i am still questioning about that there is no SEO job, but only internal link can the keyword on 1st page? the site is nothing in terms of SEO factor, except internal link though.

How many links and mentioned shall I collect for a new website per month?
Thanks everybody. Great help!!! I have a web site with jokes I like to promote and I guess I will just start with the opensiteexporer. I will go easy on links and focus more on the qualtity and quantity of content. I guess I will build like 2-3 new links a month.

Will Testimonial Backlinks Work?
Hi, The example I quoted in my reply about Paul's pizza (it's not exactly the same - but quit close) For the newspaper: if it's just an ad random links (e.g. in the footer) it doesn't look really natural. If the newspaper is featuring an article about a legal issue and it's quoting your law firm in the article, than the link would be quite natural. For the retirement homes: Google is quite aware that if you're in a retirement home you have entered the last phase of your life; so it's not really unnatural for a retirement home to feature some articles on your final "bucket list" - which could include content on how to make a will. If on these articles they quote your law firm, or if the content is entirely written by your law firm, it would be quite logical to mention the original source (or even better - put a canonical url pointing to your site). Basically - natural links are quite easy to detect. Just ask yourself: if no link building for SEO purposes existed, would the publisher include this link? If he would, it's almost certain that it's a good link. If he wouldn't, it's not really a good one. rgds, Dirk

Redirecting broken backlink to my site
I analyzed the domain health and it seems ok!! Guys, I finally decided to create a small site (free hosting, a couple of texts from wayback machine,...) for this domain in order to start increasing the DA again, and I will place a couple of nice links to my money site once this is set up. Will all those links, in a couple of weeks I expect some results I will update you about my experience! Luis

Can I include "commissioned" posts in my link building strategy?
I don't generally recommend buying press releases as a strategy unless you are trying to hide things in search. It really works well for that. But I would be willing to bet by PR agencies they are not talking about the places that you can go buy a $399 package and have a blast done. They are talking about a different kind of advertising agency that might call Paul in the tech office and say "Hey man, I want this to run, how much?"

Critical Problem About MOZ Trust
Hi Hamid! Just making sure I understand—all of the links point to https, and the site currently uses https? So, really, the links are accurate?

What causes total external links to fluctuate so much?
It's pretty likely it's the index. This one was quite a bit smaller than the last, so a lot of URLs are missing. That affects link metrics like PA/DA, as well. Patrick's link to Moz Health and Rand's Q&A post will give you more information. Do your due diligence, of course—it's possible that the issue _isn't _the update. But if nothing else has changed for you, that's the most likely explanation.

Disavow question
Hi there Whichever site is being redirected, make sure that you prepare a disavow file for that specific site. Reason being, you're redirecting all of the links to a new site, so you want to make sure the links are stopped where they started that you want to disavow. I would also make sure that you do a proper backlink audit and properly assess any potential harmful backlinks. From there, make sure you do the same for the new website, but it shouldn't be the same if links from the old site aren't appearing in the new site's backlink profile. Also, read Google's Move a site with URL changes guide and assess the pages with the most backlinks and optimized anchor text for risk assessment. From this update, I would update any potential good backlinks you find: Listings & citations Partnerships Sponsorships Relevant or authoritative mentions All of the links above from Ikkie are a great place to start with your disavow: Guide to Google's Disavow Tool (Moz) Disavow: Secrets of Google's Most Mysterious Tool (Moz) Disavow backlinks (Google) But then, I would also take a look at Matt Cutts on Common Disavow Link Tool Mistakes & 7 Things You May Not Know About Google's Disavow Tool and make sure you have your bases covered. Hope this all helps - good luck!

Is there an extra SEO benefit for linking to pages that link to you?
No, no-follow links still leak link juice, it just doesn't reach the others site., if you no follow. it would be like, I give you 10 dollars, you throw 10 dollars down the drain. Really you don't want to link away from your site, unless needed Here is an old article I wrote on page rank, old by still relevant. http://thatsit.com.au/seo/tutorials/a-simple-explanation-of-pagerank

Will our website traffic be adversely affected by Google by allowiing other sites to post our content on their sites?
Thanks EGOL for taking the time to give me your thoughts. I've got some things to think about before jumping in.

Subdomain links vs root domain links? Are the less valuable?
Hello calf, It's a bit of a trick question since there is no right or wrong answer - it depends whether you take a short or long-term perspective. That said, most people say Subfolder is best and this is what various Tweets and Facebook comments on a recent question on subfolder or subdomain in the Smart Insights Linked In Best Practices group showed. But you can argue each case, particularly if you look beyond SEO at branding benefits you may get from a separate domain. Here are the pros and cons as I see them. What do you think? SUBFOLDER Google will crawl new blog posts typically within days of launch Blog inherits the authority of parent site so can rank immediately for terms within posts Backlinks and social mentions generated by the content on the blog can help other contain on the domain i.e. product pages rank more highly Integrates better with main site for better user experience (although often will have a different design) Easier to track with Google Analytics - a minor point - see end of post Doesn't help generate external backlinks for which you control the anchor text, e.g. editorial links within blog copy SUBDOMAIN Maybe technically easier for some setups Has some of the benefits of subfolder in inheriting parent domain authority and separate domain in providing backlinks to main site, but... Needs to establish its own reputation through backlinks from other sites so... Will not rank as highly or as quickly as a subfolder +Info: http://www.searchenginejournal.com/subdomains-or-subfolders-which-are-better-for-seo/6849/
