Second anchor text on page. Does it count?
Hi Stramark, How did you get on in your testing? Just wondering what the latest on this is for 2015-2016? Thanks.

Citation, Google Plus and SEO questions
Hi Faisal, I'm so sorry that Moz Local doesn't support Canada at this time. For citation assistance in Canada, Whitespark.ca is probably the most high-regarded service. You might want to check out their offerings, and nice to know they are fellow Canadians.

Should harmful links to your own website be removed?
Is the blog on a separate domain or subdomain? Can you share the URLs? Most likely you'll want to add rel="nofollow" to the links rather than disavow them, but it's hard to say definitively without understanding the site architecture as a whole and what you hope to accomplish. Regardless, you might want to dig deeper to find out why those links are being flagged.

Using web dev agencies to generate backlinks
The method you have described is no or low risk. The only factor I would look at is the domain authority of teh sites you are targeting to make sure it is beneficial.

What happens if 20 links become 1?
The short and generic answer is yes, it will lower the strength you're receiving from that site but it won't drop it to 1/20th. More links is a good thing if those links make sense but the more you have, the less strength each of them carries; 20 links will not offer 20x the strength of 1 link, if that makes sense

Lead time on link benefit
Hi there. Usually as soon as link is indexed by a search engine, it has an effect on rankings. Don't confuse with appearance in GWT, since it takes longer and stays there longer than in reality. There are many-many examples of rankings go up dramatically after successful link building campaign (like skyscraping or something). Hope this helps.

Outreach, Relationships and Link Development
When I ran the content marketing department for a successful agency in Dallas, I took our department down the precise path you now look at. I worked to identify (through social media interactions, in-person meetings at conferences and introductions by friends and acquaintances.) What I found to be most successful was selecting individuals who had an understanding of PR. These folks can work wonders in helping you create, share and promote the types of content worthy of getting links and mentions. These are also the folks who are most likely to have the needed connections that can help the brands you work with attain meaningful traction. When it comes to link building and outreach, mindset is as important is an important to the connections you hope to form. RS

Page Authority
There is a first rate post on this subject here that could explain this far better than most of us could. https://moz.com/learn/seo/page-authority Hope this helps. Andy

Page links, header links, footer links
If you have more than one link to the same page on a given page, it won't be considered duplicate content necessarily - but it also won't pass any additional page equity.

Many of our best links are to our old domain. Problem?
It's generally accepted that most authority survives a 301 redirect, but it's certainly not all. How worth it it is is up to you, but you would see some boost in authority if those sites were to update their links to point directly at the newer domain. Hard to say whether that'd be enough to give you a genuine boost, though.

What are the possible effects of a small blog migration on an existing link profile?
Great advice, cheers!

What happened to my ranking
Hi David, The proliferation of links throughout the sites you left comments on is probably just a function of some weird trackback settings on their part - not a whole lot to be done besides disavow the links, which you've already done, although you might also try to delete the link from the original comment and see if that helps. Your site sinking from 4th to 7th is not an indication of a penalty - if you'd been penalized, you wouldn't be anywhere near the first page (although I do think you are describing link building behavior that puts you at risk for a penalty - more on that in a minute). Instead, what I suspect happened is that the sudden influx of low-quality links has diluted your page's authority. Since a lower percentage of the total links pointing to the page are high quality, you have gone from sending the signal "great links, with some not-so-great ones too" to sending the signal "LOTS of not-so-great links, a few good ones" which sends a lower quality signal to Google. Your question has a couple of big link building red flags in it, and I think it's likely you're at risk for a manual link penalty or a Penguin smackdown. Blog comments and directory links are classic examples of low-quality/spammy link sources. You have recently seen how blog comment links can result in a deluge of link spam to your site. Basically, anywhere that you can put a link on a site that you don't own, without a human person approving and curating the link, is going to be a link source that, at best, isn't valuable; at worst, it could actively work against you. I know that it's tempting to go out and grab these easy-to-get links, and sometimes it seems like it could be OK if the site is topically related to yours, but these are tactics that have been heavily abused by spammers and are beyond useless in modern SEO. Instead, focus on getting higher-quality editorial links to your content. It takes a lot more work but is a much lower-risk strategy in the long term. These links have the added bonus of potentially being a source of converting referral traffic to your site as well. Tools to visually analyse link profiles?
Hi Jay, have you looked into Kerbo? I used to use it back when it was called Linkrisk. I remember it being a very simple and intuitive tool that was good at visualizing your link profile. Now when they are part of Kerbo they do a lot more than just link analysis but hopefully it could be of interest to you. Cheers, Anders

Looking for a dedicated Backlinks/Disavow Platform
I can highly recommend CognitiveSEO too. They aggregate all 3 major backlink sources and you can also add in your own upload from GSC. Their tool does an excellent job of categorising the quality of the links, and also an excellent system for easily inspecting the actual pages/backlinks for manual assessment. Tools also include ability to compare your backlinks to crowd-sourced disavow lists, to automatically generate new disavow files, and they've recently added a solid rank-tracking tool and some improved reporting. Well worth checking out. Paul

Disqus Account
I check and verified my account with Disqus and also contact them as well. Today I try to post all the comment the mark as spam on Disqus individually to a couple site and they accept my comment right away. For the Facebook profile I use to company profile. Would it be better to use personal profile?
