  • Thanks for your reply EGOL. That's exactly what I saw with one of the posts that had nofollow links. The sydication partner's version was ranking higher.

  • Our site www.project365.co.uk was submitted to CSS Mania and got awarded best site of the week for handrawn sites, we went from 100 hits a month to 3500 per month becuase all the other css bloggers featured our site as a result of this. Since then we probably still get over 3500 hits a month from this and I reckon maybe 2 or 3 leads per month as a result. the fact that many of the leads are from asia and we tend not to convert them into business is beside the point. ( we have converted a few) It took me less than 5 mins to suggest our link and cost not a single penny.

  • What you are essentially talking about is creating offsite gateway pages. Gateway pages are definitely considered spam when done for the sole purpose of link building and ranking. Squidoo is not a bad site and we have many pages (lens) on squidoo and the pages have unique content. It is a good place to market your content and build personal authority. If your squidoo lens is high authority and have ton of links to it then a link from that particular page to your website will carry some link juice. However, the goal should be to create good quality lens to help users. It is also important to note that Google latest panda update has impacted the traffic and ranking of content farms and low quality content sites like hub pages, ehow, ezine article. It is quiet possible that squidoo has lost traffic as well because there are tons of lens that are low quality and were build for the sole purpose of link building. Best Sameer

  • I am not sure to be honest. I use a lot of press release services and I've never heard of this one. Are they charging anything?

  • Thank you, that's good to know. PR Web charges more for releases that contain anchor text, so I hope it's really worth the higher price.

  • I'd echo the suggestion to start a new thread on this, we've all theorized about this and I've also heard it mentioned directly from an industry guru as a tactic he knew was being employed by some - and working. It would be great to have us all analyze and pick this apart to see how and why it's happening. In theory sites should be able to avoid being "hurt" by this kind of thing, just not helped, with the reason being that as we know, anyone could blast anyone else with bad links. But what is apparently happening is not simply these spammy links being discounted, but a penalty actively being imposed, which goes against what most of us have heard and believed until recently. Would love to see some of the great minds here take a crack at it. -Dan

  • I'm seeing what rand says to be true in other areas like blogs and articles. Sorry I don't have a specific answer for you.

  • Hey Joe, I have read a bunch of your questions today and let me tell you, currently, you are in a bad place SEO wise. Steve, myself and many others have given you great, informative answers yet you cast them aside, and their efforts aside as it is not what you want to hear. You are looking for the 'secret of SEO link building' or the 'SEO Tool that allows you dominate the first page of google!!!!!!' - in essence, you are not looking to do things the right way, you are looking for spam tools to cheat your way to the top. Steve said it above and I have said it in another of your threads but you are not alone, many of us start out there, in the place that you are in at the moment. Looking for the easy fix, the easy win, the trick, secret or tool that will let you get to the top and you know what, long term, you are wasting your time (and ours a little). The longer you are in this game, the more white hat you become. Are you looking to do some anchor text link spam to promote some burner domains or are you looking to cheat? If you have a real business, with a future, then stop looking for these easy answers as they simply don't exist. Sure, there are strategies, and easy wins, but if your whole approach is to spend time looking for low value links then buddy, you are just wasting your own time and everyone here will tell you the same thing. No one here is going to give you success stories about such a tool as everyone here is working their asses off to do things the right way and that involves a whole lot of graft, hard work and patience. Joe - if I can give you any advice it would be to stop looking at these tools, set realistic goals and maybe start reading the link building posts on this site. There are tons of solid strategies and approaches and none of these will be a waste of your time, money or effort and certainly none of them will end up with you having to burn the site and move onto a new domain. Sorry if this comes off a bit harsh buddy, think of it as tough love from someone who has been burnt before. Cheers Marcus

  • Ah. Sculpting in the sense that I'm familiar with is more so a function purely of PR strength.  I think as long as you're not pushing the boundaries of contextual relevance and spam you'll be fine interlinking related silos.  In the example I provided above, if they suddenly linked to a newly created page on their website about creating an online casino account it would probably be discounted and problematic.  Same thing if they linked to an trusted neighborhood externally. Here's an excellent recap of linking in general: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/10-illustrations-on-search-engines-valuation-of-links and a highlight of linking to bad neighborhoods: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/more-on-nofollow-at-seomoz-and-how-bad-outbounds-can-impact-websites If you're internal links are all fairly similar semantically you won't be an outlier.

  • Yeah I would take it anyway... don't forget that just because it has zero authority now, doesn't mean it won't get some good authority later.

  • No-follow gives your link profile a natural look but it will not pass pank rank and will therefore recieve 0 direct SEO benefit. That said, don't under estimate the usefulness of getting traffic from a good directory. How much are they charging?

  • I'll also add this - if the link and it's surrounding text are NOT directly related in a laser-focus manner to the content topical focus of the article itself, it's not even an ideal link from a "pure" SEO perspective, even if it's high up in the content area. Which just reinforces the whole "don't get lost on this being such a big deal" concept.

  • I liked that strategy, use it for a year to get leverage and then just let it expires. By this and the other posts here looks like that getting listed in the directory isnt really worth for me at the moment. Thanks for the opnion guys

  • Thanks for the responses.  Is there a way to run queries on OSE?  I understand how to use OSE to check out competitors links, but what if I want to do a ["submit site" + keyword] type inquiry.  Those are the result that I need help sorting through.  Can this be done through OSE?
