Google Cache Date
Google has a public cache (i.e. what you see in the search results) and it's own private cache which is used to evaluate site rankings. Although when the public cache is refreshed it more than likely updates several ranking factors, there's also crawling done behind the scenes. Backlinks can and most likely will be picked up before the public cache is refreshed. I've noticed google is getting quite fast on updating rankings and new back links can have an impact sometimes within a day or so now.

Views on PR - My complete U-Turn as of today...
Thanks, yeah the video says pretty much what I was thinking, that whilst PR isn't worth obsessing over, it is worth watching (i.e. as a sign of Google's reactions to stuff, such as penalties)... I stopped watching it all together about two years ago but it seems I need to start watching it again.

New Links added
To clarify, if you indeed added "quality links" meaning the pages you obtained links from have a high PA/PR, then your search results can improve in less then a day. Google has the resources to crawl the web much faster then anyone who offers SEO tools. The time it would take to see the results in your SEO tools would still be as described with the earlier replies.

How do I get quality, relevant backlinks?
Cheers. I would use an SEO company but as a small business and brand owners requiring payments, it will be a few months before we have the cash to do so. So I am trying to learn myself as I have a fair bit of web knowledge and it is something that interests me, so learning SEO would be good for me. I understand the spammy directories etc... but what I am asking is what methods are out there for finding these quality links? Do I just google them, tweet them, facebook them and then see if they rank highly with the mozlabs tools? How do people go about finding them and then getting the owners permission? Whats your email text to them? Cheers Will

Anything to bear in mind when setting up a related 'family' of sites with linking between them?
Thanks Ryan - that's great to know. We'll definitely bear both of those in mind!

Share your favourite link exchange template email with us!
I agree with staying away from the link exchange page idea. However, I would think that you could find legitimate links from local sources, especially if you have any existing offline partnerships with them. Do you sponsor any little league teams or do any charity work? Do you offer free storage for women referred from the battered women's shelter (I know of movers that provide free moving for battered moving)? Anything like that you can ask for a link back from the people as a way for them to show their support. Natural links would also come from people involved in real estate, property management, student housing -- anyone that frequently deals with people that move and need a place to store things.

Guest Blogging - Build a relationship with a few blogs and post only there or post a few on as many good blogs as possible?
I agree with Anthony. Focus on communities, forums and blogs that are highest of quality, in line with your market's interests and yours so you're more inclined to be consistent with your efforts to build links.

Backlink from different niche
More Italian Backlinks will help ranking in Google.it for both Brand and other keywords. The difficulty is finding suitable link sources I would imagine. But if you can find high quality Italian backlink sources then that must be favourable. Cheers M

The quality of links is measured by website relevancy to my business?
Hi Cees, I'm following up on older, unanswered questions. I'm pretty sure that OSE does not look at the relevancy of the pages to each other at all. Hope this helps!

Blogspot blog on sub domain
Well, your first issue is having a blog only for SEO, search engines aren't that bothered if you have a blog, users might be and if users like it and link to it then search engines might care. Anyway, you're almost certainly better to focus on developing one good blog than five okay ones. If you're talking about developing a content syndication strategy, then there's a lot more to think about.
