Backlinks from websites with duplicate content
Not from the duplicate content per se, but I assume the websites are low quality and wouldnt give you benefit in the first place.

Can I Gather Inbound Links from Different Subject External Websites?
You can gather links from non related websites. try get some context around your link i.e. make an article about you product, but links are better than no links Personally I would take high authority brand links on non related sites over lower authority, exact match links on related sites S

How might Google differentiate between an artificial link exchange and partners linking to each other?
Thanks, CafePress. That certainly makes sense. But are you saying that if I contact a bunch of site owners in my niche and offer them link exchanges (and they accept), that's really no different than linking between real business partners? What about a partners page which links to all their partners via a logo (not much anchor text or any text, for that matter)? Is that as bad as putting a bunch of reciprocal links to niche sites on your page with no supporting text? Everything I've read about Google recently makes me think they're smarter than that, but I'm looking for a backed-up reason.

Do VigLink links get indexed, and then pass SEO juice to the merchant?
@Ressler Motors It's always the case that the easy way is easy for a reason! Thanks for the response, and I do agree that purchasing links is a bad practice. Back to being a good Web Citizen!

Link value personal pages on .edu
Normally I would only look at the PR of the page, not so much at the domain. The reason is some pages are much stronger than others. A PA 53 sounds like a good page to get a link from. I haven't followed up too much on link building strategies lately, but I think the PA is divided by the number of external links. In this case the link juice would be diminishing as more links are on the page.

How to compete with spammers
You can always use a private question credit to ask your question of SEOmoz Staff and Associates and include your URL. Those questions are not indexed or visible to anyone who is not a staff or associate, and we're all under NDA regarding the content of those questions.

Wikipedia Backlinks
Right. And some of the backlinks you earn from the initial no-follow links can be very valuable. Reporters often begin research with Wikipedia.

Company Looking For A LinkBuilder
I agree! Also, if you are competing for keywords that have a lot of competition, you better have a large budget. As EGOL said in a response a while back, sometimes it's not about SEO, but about resources.

What are the best back links for a review site?
Links from anything to do with that field. Providers Suppliers Tech Blogs I would actually start following some of the major companies on Twitter, and see who or what they link out to. Hopefully they start following you!

How do you feel about article directories?
I am agree with Lavellester and Robert. But, Guest blogging is quite hard for product selling website. If we are talking about SEO or any associated subject so, we have too many platform to get it done. But, for product related or online retailers ... mesh up mind with this stuff. What you think about it?

Your opinion of link building strategy
I agree with the others, this is NOT an approach I would recommend. I have been doing link building and SEO for 10+ years. Trust me you might see some short term benefits, but this approach is not a long term strategy. Since you said "I know it's hard work" - you seem to be willing to put in the effort to do it right. I would recommend creating 2 or 3 really valuable pieces of content for your website. Then promote that content through bloggers, forums, press releases and all sorts of social media. You might be surprised at the quantity and quality links this may attract. It takes an act of faith, but if the content is good, the links will come. Then create a couple anchor text links from your content to the appropriate pages on your website. Give it a try. You might just get hooked on building link attraction to your website.

Ranking above Auth domains question?
I have seen some pretty crazy rankings from EMD's, I believe if you had these on your side, it would be A LOT easier to beat them.

How much Link Building?
I would focus more on social media with that 10% increase that you were looking to build on. To answer your question I don't think it would raise any red flags with google as long as they were good quality directories with a higher pagerank. My advice would echo what James had suggested to link to category pages instead of only focusing on your homepage to help build your authority to inner pages.
