  • Hi Again, While it's fine to use the home address as one of the legit locations, the UPS store is taboo. It should be removed, web-wide, to avoid possible penalties of the entire account. You will need to let the client know that this violation of the guidelines could get him into serious hot water, and that he's going to need to invest in some man hours to find and remove any citations that exist of the business at the non-permitted address. This will then leave you with 2 physical addresses (the home address and the other one), both of which can be optimized for without detracting from the rankings of either. Think about McDonalds and how many locations they might have within a given city. What will be vital is that you make certain that BOTH addresses are using the 'hide address' function in Google Places as this is a service-type business. Ideally, if one is starting a new business or moving offices, there can be some benefits to getting an address as close as possible to the centroid of the city, but again, theses would need to be legit addresses. It sounds to me like you've got 2 good addresses to work with and one that needs to be removed.

  • Unfortunately, my best answer would be to purchase a domain and hosting service in the US with .com or .net extension. However, I am not sure how easy that is to do from Morocco.

  • _First of all I would like to know why want to get your website bookmarked in social bookmarking sites. Unless there is a greater possibility of gaining some visitors, I do not think it is worth your time. Do not chase the algo, rather chase the visitors. _

  • .....building more links with branded and naked URL anchor links... If you control the anchor text then these are phony links.

  • This looks like exactly the type of link profile I am digging through all day long as I help webmasters deal with unnatural links penalties.  The sad thing is that sites I am seeing that have a link profile like this actually were ranking well on the merits of these crappy links! I believe that we've only just started to see the wrath of Google in regards to unnatural backlink profiles like this.  Many sites have been hit with manual warnings and many by Penguin, but this is only the beginning.  Link profiles like this are bad news.

  • You might also want to make sure those / any links are cached in Google by doing a cache:siteurl.com to see if the Google cache of that page has your link in it. As long as it shows up there, it will show up in these links reports overtime. Also, I would like to take the opportunity and suggest not to "over-do" any one kinds of links.

  • Thank you very much for both of your responses, its good to know Antonio that I can recover. Marie you comments have made me go back my link profile and look again, I thought the press releases would be seen as organic, but now i can see the anchor text looks that manipulation of page rank. Wish me luck as I remove links and prepare for take 6!

  • Some directories are great. An example is in the industrial marketplace and directories like ThomasNet. Thousands of companies pay ThomasNet to be listed in their directories where many engineers look for their services and get a great roi .

  • I can't see why 1 and 1 should be causing you issues with getting info on SeoMoz. Have you used their site creator? Have you looked at your sites info through Google Webmaster Tools - does that give you any clues? Obviously SeoMozs index is huge but doesn't contain all sites and as with any search engines index the best way to get into it is to get some decent links pointing at your site which are followed.

  • Absolutely on the money Doug! Pleased to say I am aware of all the points you raise - all spot on!  By early November we are aiming to have a very large proportion of what you have identified dealt with. Delighted with your feedback as it further justifies the focus of our development program so makes me confident that the changes will really matter. We need to draw out to the Home Page all our hidden qualities.  We fail to make a number of parts of the user journey seamless. Once again thank you for the top advice Doug - really reassuring and you have very quickly hit the issues for the customer. Lee

  • Hi, Thanks for reply. I think offering content is pretty popular now to high PR sites that authors can get back links from rather than Submitting to directories which in most cases is pain. They get free backlinks by their content form good websites like yours. S.H
