Nofollow for reciprocal links?
Hi, "nofollow" doesn't mean that we don't trust them. We do apply nofollow to just not violate Google policy guideline. Thanks

Removing dates from wordpress blog URL
Hi, You could add the following code to your .htaccess to redirect all dated urls to non-dated version: RedirectMatch 301 /([0-9]+)/([0-9]+)/([0-9]+)/(.*)$ http://www.**domain**.com/$4 Change domain.com with your domain name. This should create a redirect from http://www.website.com/blog/2016/04/10/topic-on-how-to-optimise-blog to www.website.com/blog/topic-on-how-to-optimise-blog (and every similar situation).

Rel canonical on every page of wordpress CMS website
Hi, According to Dr. Peter J. Meyers "I’d say to use rel=canonical on the home-page, known duplicates, and any pages with parameters that could drive duplicate content, and leave the rest alone." Here is full article @ https://moz.com/blog/rel-confused-answers-to-your-rel-canonical-questions According to Yoast "At Yoast, we have a strong preference for having a canonical link element on every page and Google has confirmed that’s best. The reason is that most CMSes will allow URL parameters without changing the content. So all of these URLs would show the same content: if you don’t have a self-referencing canonical on the page that points to the cleanest version of the URL, you risk being hit by this stuff. Even if you don’t do it yourself, someone else could do this to you and cause a duplicate content issue. So adding a self-referencing canonical to URLs across your site is a good “defensive” SEO move. Luckily for you, our Yoast SEO plugin does this for you." Yes for wordpress use rel="canonical" for all pages. Thanks

Does Google ignores page title suffix?
If you search brand name in Google /Bing you will always come on top except where there are too many similar brands so IMO using option 1 wouldn't be a good idea.

Page must be internally linked to get indexed?
Hi, Pages without internal links are referred to as “orphaned pages,” and they can be a reason for reduced indexation in Google. To determine if your page(s) are discoverable, it’s recommended to crawl your site with a tool such as Screaming Frog. and then search for specific URLs in question. Using sitemaps has many benefits like easier navigation and better visibility by search engines. Every site must have at least xml sitemap. Hope this helps. Thanks

Footer menu links: Header tags or list items?
I use list items for footer links in a menu. h tags are better used when organizing information on a page.

URL in SERP: Google's stand
Google is more interesting in the information you present users with and whether or not you can answer their query. Highlighting keywords may, to those not in the know, show that a website is more likely to answer a query, but in reality it may not be the case. It's falls under the same method of Google attributing actual meaning, for example "wood floor" could be perceived as "wooden floor" or "wood flooring" and so on, where those websites might help the user more so than the one which contains the exact keyword in the URL.

Website and landing pages - Proportionate authority
Hi James, Thanks for the answer. Let me elaborate the question: Generally homepage will be optimised and expected to rank for "primary keyword". And the other landing pages are optimised and expected for "secondary keywords". So, now let's take homepage is ranking well for "primary keyword"; does this impact on improving rankings of other landing pages for "secondary keywords"? And vice versa....if couple of landing pages are ranking well for "secondary keywords"; does this impact on improving ranking of homepage? I am just wondering about it. Because I doubt if website (homepage) is not ranking well, will this push other ranking pages little down?

How to rank same page for multiple related keywords
I am confused with the answers. Even though majority claims that different landing pages are not required, I can see clearly top landing pages in our niche are created for same purpose of targeting to rank for particular keywords and majority of them are successful. I would like to know if there will be any penalty if we create related landing pages.

Best Keyword tool with global search numbers
Have you tried MozBar? Adding this (free) browser extension from Moz, then heading to Google.com to perform a search query may be all you need if I'm not mistaken. After downloading and enabling MozBar, head to google.com, search for your keyword and change your Search Profile to target a specific search engine, country, region, and even city. Additionally, I highly recommend Keyword Explorer from Moz for much more in-depth keyword research. Best of luck! Zack

Rank drop after link reclamation
Most of these links might help in technical SEO but not something users might be visiting. And I think this way, before link reanimation, we lost many links. Does this hurt?

Do the header tags must be placed from top to bottom order?
I would say that if the header structure is not adhering to a logical hierarchy, then the headers don't have as much integrity intuitively speaking. It could follow that the headers are not valued as they were intended.

Page title optimisation - Does suffix keywords matters?
Hi Patrick, Thanks for the answer. That's where we are confused. We been giving the suffix as "brand & primary keyword" like how most of the websites do. Example is "Page topic xxxx | vertigo tiles" where "vertigo" is brand and "tiles" is our primary keyword to rank for. While choosing the same suffix for all pages, "primary keyword" is at the end of every page title. I think how it will work if we bring "primary keyword" along with topic and give just "brand name" and suffix. Like.... "black colour tiles | vertigo". I wonder which suffix will make more impact at Google. General public search with our "brand name" and only 10% search with our "brand name and primary keyword". So do we need to change the suffix to just "brand name"? Will it helps?

Does cached duplicate content hurts seo by Google
Hi Patrick, We actually created same content on duplicate domain before website migration to monitor how new website works. But the duplicate domain was allowed to index by mistake even after actual website launch. Then we have noindex, nofollow, noarchive, noodp later. But still I can see cached version of the duplicate content in Google. This old indexed duplicate content still hurts us? Thanks

Blog posts and 3rd hierarchy pages weigh same as per Google?
Thanks for clarifying. In terms of weight, I don't think there is any significant difference between your 2 examples. Your ability to rank prominently for one over the other will depend on many factors, including: Internal links pointing to page External links pointing to page Click-throughs from search On-Page optimization Etc... etc... However, I believe the most important factor (tying this all together) will be the user's search query. If Google thinks a user is looking for a specific product, example.com/product/feature might have the most ranking potential. If Google thinks users are looking for an answer to a question it thinks your blog post answers well, example.com/blog/blog-post-1 might have the most ranking potential. I don't know that I would ever "ignore" opportunities to optimize for a specific keyword or phrase, regardless of the page or post type.

Landing page redirect along with complete content
Hi Patrcik, Thanks for such detailed response. We tried a little to make it naturally as you said; but seems like it gonna take more time to outrage the homepage. Rather than saying landing page, I want to say redirecting homepage to another page. Anyhow we are not ranking better for the "keyword" we are targeting, so we decided this redirection. We noticed our competitors doing good by ranking with website.com/keyword. Can we redirect for a month around, so this /keyword page might get highlighted to Google and users as well. We try to replace /keyword page with homepage internally to avoid internal redirects (Homepage have been linked internally from many sub-domains even). We tried linking internally /keyword page to say Google how important the page is, still it didn't workout. We decided to risk as we are anyway not doing great right now. Please share your views.

Header tags ratio matters?
We have 1 h1, 19 h2, 4 h3 and 8 h4 tags for most of our pages. Like these h2s are repeating from almost every page. Does this hurt us anywhere? And h4 tags are at footer links. I am worried whether same tags repeating across different pages.

How Google's "Temporarily remove URLs" in search console works?
Hi there Totally agree with Logan here. I would also make sure that you update your sitemap XMLs to include the new subdomain URLs, and also make sure your internal links are updated as well. If you are able to update high value links to the old subdomain to the new subdomain, that would be hugely beneficial as well. Hope this helps! Good luck! Patrick
