Article submission is not giving much link juice but yes its not a bad way. Its indeed a good way but make sure you submit unique article to each site.. If you submit one article to more than one website then it will harm your website, also dont spun the article... Also use best sites only. As suggested in the above comment you can get to your htaccess file in yoast or you can also get to it manually on your server.

It depends on your wordpress theme. Some themes use a complicated method of displaying the meta description and Yoast SEO will tell you there are multiple description tags. It will offer to try to fix it automatically which works in some themes and breaks others. It's best to have some professional help available in case it messes up your template.
