RE: Pagination parameters and canonical
Hello Anthony!
Thank you for your answer. I have been reading about the rel/prev and the canonical, and I found two different points of view about this. I know the recommendation of Google is the one that you have mentioned above, but as the CMS (Prestashop) is managing the paginated results the way I have shown, that is the one I am using.
The question is, imagine that I have implemented the canonical the way you say before (or the way I did, I doesn't really matter for my question), should I still tell google that "p" parameter is a pagination parameter in Google Webmaster Tools or it's not necessary?
Thank you!

How to measure adwords campaing success on an non ecommerce/leads website
Hello,
We have a website of a furniture company that runs an Adwords campaign. This company has a lot of distributors. They have several objetives:- people explore the online catalog
- people visit the distributor page (where they can find the nearest distributor in his/her area)
- people share the pictures and info in social media. (For example: pictures in pinterest)
- people watch videos
- new distributors contact them to be a new distributor
and so on. As this is not an eccommerce website they can not buy
We have created objectives in analytics to meassure those engament results.
My question is how to measure this in Google Adwords...
If I import GA objetives into adwords, I get conversions rates of 350% and even more, and the number of conversions is to high. For example. If one objetive is to visit Distributors page (the one where users can see a map and search for the nearest distributor), I find with a lot of conversions of this type.I was thinking in importing some objectives and giving them a value in $ and instead of evaluating conversion rates, evaluate ROAS.
But I really would like to know, what you are doing with this kind of companies. How do you measure the campaign success when most of the objetives are measuring engagement.
Please, could you give me any advice?
Thank you!

Pagination parameters and canonical
Hello,
We have a site that manages pagination through parameters in urls, this way:
friendly-url.html
friendly-url.html?p=2
friendly-url.html?p=3
...We've rencently added the canonical tag pointing to friendly-url.html for all paginated results.
In search console, we have the "p" parameter identified by google.
Now that the canonical has been added, should we still configure the parameter in search console, and tell google that it is being use for pagination?Thank you!

Should I redirect 404s or should I eliminate them?
Hello!
I am now checking a website that has been migrated months ago from osCommerce to Prestashop.
While I was checking crawl errors in search console I found a lot of 404s coming from the last website. The urls are mainly 4 types:
- popup_image.php?pID=125&osCsid=507c27261ba5ca2568f06ce5bad2ebc9
- product-friendly-url-pr-125%3FosCsid....
- product-friendly-url-p-125%3FosCsid.....
- products_new.php?page=228
I've have realized that the parameter pId, and the number that comes after pr- and p- is the product Id in the new website, so I think our team will be able to create an script to redirect those.
My question is: Is it ok to send several urls to the same url?. I mean, the popup_image.php was not the product page, as its name says it's more like a popup page. We don't have now a pop up page for images, so I was thinking to send that url to the product page.
the one with the pr- was product review page
the one with the p- was the product page
I was thinking on redirecting the 3 of them to the product page? Should I? Or should I just redirect the last one (p-) and eliminate the others from the index?
And... the ones with
- products_new.php?page=228
I was thinking to redirect all to the page 1 of new products.
Is it ok?
thank you!

RE: Pagination loading with using AJAX. Should I change this?
Thank you so much!
I noticed the problem with the canonical when I was auditing the site. I think is this is a major issue. Google seems to be omiting that, because it is still showing inner pages in its results. We are not sure about how this can be affecting the entire site rankings, but I think it is not good at all.
We have addressed that and we hope the site improves its rankings soon.
Thank you again for your advices!

Pagination loading with using AJAX. Should I change this?
Hello,
while I was checking this site;
http://www.disfracessimon.com/disfraces-adultos-16.html
I found that the pagination is working this way
http://www.disfracessimon.com/disfraces-adultos-16.html#/page-2
http://www.disfracessimon.com/disfraces-adultos-16.html#/page-3and content is being loaded using AJAX. So, google is not getting the paginated results. Is this a big issue or there is no problem?
Should I create a link for See All Products or there is not a big issue?Thank you!

Manage category pages and duplicate content issues
Hi everybody,
I am now auditing this website www.disfracessimon.com
this website has some issues with canonicals and other things. But right now I have found something that I would like to know your opinion. When I was checking parts of the content in google to find duplicate content issues I found this:
I google I searched: "Chaleco de streck decorado con botones" and found
First result: "Hombre trovador" is the one I was checking -> Correct
The following results are category pages where the product is listed in.I was wondering if this could cause any problem related with duplicated content.
Should I no index category pages or should I keep it?
The first result in google was the product page. And category pages I think are good for link juice transfer and to capture some searchs from Google.Any advice?
Thank you

RE: Need advice and smart solution for H1
Hi Umar!
Thank you so much for your great answer and your time! Your advice is great. Trying to take value of the different pages using each one for one query.
But, I was wondering if users wouldn't be confused if the name of the section were Objectives (in secondary navigation) and the H1 be a different sentence. What is your experience with this?
About the use of just one page or different pages to split the content... Honestly, I was thinking about it seriosly, and even was checking other universities to see what they were doing, and I found that some of the, specially the ones that has great visibility in SERP had the content split too. I think it is more related with the domain authority than with the onpage optimization, but it made me doubt.
What happens is that if we place all the content in just one page, we will have pages with more than 2000 words. I think it is to much. What do you think?
Thank you!

Need advice and smart solution for H1
Hi!
I've been quite a long time trying to find a solution to the html structure of a webpage that I'am auditing right now. But I need your valuable help!
The problem is the following:
Actually, they have different sections inside. The structure is something like this
Masters - Degrees - Programs - About us - News
And if you go to the Masters Section you will find something like this
Masters
- Master number 1 in Tourism (brand.com/master/master-number-1-tourism)
- Presentation
(brand.com/master/master-number-1-tourism) - Objectives
(brand.com/master/master-number-1-tourism/objectives) - Professional opportunites
(brand.com/master/master-number-1-tourism/professional-opportunities) - Faculty
(brand.com/master/master-number-1-tourism/faculty) - Qualification
(brand.com/master/master-number-1-tourism/qualification) - Financial
(brand.com/master/master-number-1-tourism/financial) - Master number 2 with a long name
- Presentation
- Objetives
- Profesisional opportunities
- Faculty
- ...
- Master number 3 in Sports and so on
- Presentation
The Degrees section, has inside exactly the same structure with the same names.
My doubt is related with the use of h1 tag
What would be the best h1 strategy for each content page? Each master has 6 pages (presentation, objectives, faculty,...)
For page Objetives,
brand.com/master/master-number-1-tourism/objectivesIf I choose to use as H1 just the word Objetives, what will happen is that I will have a lot of pages (one per master, degree or program), with the same H1, because each master will have its own page Objectives. If we have 10 masters + 10 degrees + 2 programs y will have 22 pages with the same H1 Objecives
If I choose to use as H1 the following:
"Objectives of the Master Number 1 in Tourisim and so on with long name"
it will be difficult for the users to visually see the difference between the different pages. for instance
Objectives of the Master Number 1 in Tourisim and so on with long name
and
Faculty of the Master Number 1 in Tourisim and so on with long name
because they only differ in one word.
What do you think of this solution?
Objectives
Master Number 1 in Tourisim and so on with long name
is it correct to do this inside the h1?
or would you use combinations of h1 and h2 like these
h1: Objectives
h2: Master Number 1 in Tourisim and so on with long namewould be this appropiate?
- Master number 1 in Tourism (brand.com/master/master-number-1-tourism)

RE: Best Practices for Homepage Title Tag
Thank you Tom!
For sure, a ctr optimized title works better. I still don't know if having less kws in title tag pays the worth...
I still don't know, what would be better
Attractive title, but less keywords.
or
less attractive title and more keywordsSpanish language makes it a little more difficult, cause generally words are longer, and you cannot say too much...
Maybe the only way is testing for each case, what works better.
I wish it were esier!Thank you!

Best Practices for Homepage Title Tag
Hi,
I would like to know if there is any update about the best practices for the homepage title tag.
I mean, a couple of years ago, it was still working placing main keywords in the homepage title tag. But since the last google SERP update, the number of characters that are being shown were reduced, and now we try to work with 55 and 56 characters. That has reduced our capacity of including many keywords on the title tag.
Besides, search engines are smarter now to choose the correct inner page to show in SERP.
But I am wondering if the Homepage Title should have a branded orientation or should include main keywords, cause it is still working that strategy.
I would appreciatte any update in this issue.
Thank you!

RE: Duplicate content in external domains
Hi again Andy!
I would advice to create different content. They will decide what to do. The portals are quite important, and its authority is higher. This website is too new.I would tell them both things: different content and also sending that content inmediatly to the index from Google Webmaster Tools.
Thanks for your time!
