Do ecommerce site shopping carts need no follow atts?
Yes, they do need the meta tag: While you can use robots.txt to block bots, the problem is URLs can still show up in Google searches (minus any information) and this can create an easy playground for hackers. Check out the section here called: "Why Meta Robots is better than robots.txt"

Is my "term & conditions"-"privacy policy" and "About Us" pages stealing link juice?
Hi Keri...thanks for sharing some insight to my response as well ;>) Is due to the Panda Update why they should be indexed -- since the panda update I believe now wants to see the contact page and those 2 other pages I think ...hummm thanks for clarity !

Sorry! I am not understanding how a Re Tweet helps with any lift in rankings.
This article will likely help you: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/google-bing-confirm-twitter-facebook-influence-seo A single retweet is not likely to make a big difference. However, if someone influential retweeted you (i.e. like Rand) then this is a signal to the search engines that your post is significant. The article describes how the tweets from someone of authority are important. Similarly, if your article gets tweeted for facebook-shared in multiple circles around the world this is a sign to the search engines that it is an interesting article and worth looking at. Tweets and shares are not the new links, IMHO, but if you write something that's good enough to get valid, genuine attention from others then Tweeting and Sharing are indicators to the search engines that your article is a good one. So really, it comes down to producing great stuff.

Why does this show up in my browser/index2.php
I agree, also added if its not in the HT ACCESS then have a look in the cpanel. Some cpanel hosting allows you to redirect within the panel. Can cause a bit of a headache if you arent aware of it and are looking somewhere else.

301 or What?
what I just noticed it that seomoz goes with the "seomoz.org" to the "www" version. Does anyone else see that?

Rank went up, But?
You can check if your staging has been indexed by running a 'site:' query in google (i.e. site:staging.yoursite.com). The spike in your existing site is likely due to outside factors (new links? dig in to what keywords you saw jumps in), but regardless, you should continue with the HTML site. As long as it is implemented properly, it will likely outperform the flash version in the long run.

Are Facebook links really helpful?
Great! thanks for all the info! I guess my mentality needs a shift. I get so focused on what google wants rather than the user. I will start my day from that mind set today. thanks

How Can I know that a link placed is not lableld "No Follow"?
Another great tool is the SEOmoz toolbar plugin. When the highlight tool is set to Nofollowed (pink), all the nofollow links are highlighted in pink. Best, Christopher

Flash to HTML? Will I lose rank when I return?
The bottom line is your site is ranked based on search engine crawling. Your present flash site is mostly not crawlable so only 3 pages are indexed. When you switch to HTML assuming you offer proper navigation the site will be crawlable which should result in more pages being indexed and, if your content is of a quality nature, better rankings. When you switch back in 6 months, how exactly will you switch? If you move back to your 11 year old site, then yes your results will return to the same as they are now. You will lose any gained ranking. An alternative is to build a flash site on top of your new HTML site. Those who visit your site with flash-enabled browsers will see the flash content. Those who do not have flash-enabled browsers will see the HTML content. Your indexing and ranking will therefore be maintained. If you use the latter approach, it is important your HTML content and flash content are in synch. It would be considered black hat and punishable to offer one set of content in flash and a different set of content in HTML for the purpose of manipulating search rankings.
