I spend most of my time working with a generic/keyword rich domain name and as a company grows it really does cause branding issues. That being said, purely from an SEO perspective there are some benefits. If your domain name includes a keyword then most of the time that people link to you they will use your domain name/brand name in the anchor text and within the body of the linking article.
