I completely agree with Patrick you get all the domain authority and back links from utilizing a subfolder in place of a subdomain. Google considers a subdomain separate website. Therefore subfolder should almost always be used for very unique cases. Hope that is enough to convince you to use the subfolder. All the best, Tom
