make sure you have a 301 strategy in place! You could also use a canonical tag in order to solve the duplicate content. using only one website is always better in the long run!

I have a very simple logic to deal with this problem. I agree that having too many links on the page is not a very good idea both from the search engine as well as from the user point of view in many cases but there are times when you can’t do anything about it. I think the better idea is to see if the link that you are placing on the page are important from the user point view if they are then let it be but if you can reduce them, then you ideally should. The idea is to think about users first and then about search engines guidelines. Hope this helps!
