PDF Sharing sites - scribd/dropbox/edocr/etc Cleaning Up SEO History
Howdy,
Whilst in the process of cleaning up a new clients seo profile and have encountered a lot of techniques I am uncomfortable with and in my opinion should be removed.
One technique I have not seen before is using a load of pdf sharing and video sites. The domains have high DA ratings, but to me the intention is highly questionable. The sites include:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/tuxb8w1qowcm27i/Looking for boiler spares-geniune parts and consumables.pdf?dl=0
http://www.scribd.com/doc/241542076/Looking-for-Boiler-Spares-geniune-Parts-and-Consumables
http://www.divshare.com/download/26207602-569
And so the list goes on for about 50 domains.
Am I correct to be concerned here and what was the seo plan here?
Thanks in advance.

RE: Guidelines for a second website business domain
Hi EGOL,
Thanks for your time on this. The reason for the second site is the company have been approached to represent a specific brand as an official brand distributor who want the products on a specific website.
I concur with your thoughts although I do feel my client is not attempting to manipulate Google, but the opportunity to be an official representative for a brand is one they are understandably keen to take.
Guess we have to set up a second CMS, content etc.
Thanks again.
Andy.

RE: Guidelines for a second website business domain
Thanks Tim,
The aim is not to manipulate the rankings, but that a brand have asked them to sell products for them on a separate domain. Many businesses have duplicate trading names, but we are saying Google does not account for this and my client can be penalised.
Tricky one when you are not intentionally trying to manipulate rankings.
If we go the root of canonical tags would I be right in assuming we kill any chance for the new domain to rank?
Thanks for your time.

Guidelines for a second website business domain
Hi There,
A client is setting up a second website selling the same products from a separate domain with the same descriptions etc. The site will have a separate URL, but will administered from the same CMS. The only difference is the new site has only one brand instead of several on the main site.
E.G The main site sells all plumbing brands, the second site just one brand.
Your thoughts and advice for best practise would be much appreciated.

Site Search external hosted pages - Penguin
Hi All,
On the site www.myworkwear.co.uk we have a an externally hosted site search that also creates separately hosted pages of popular searches which rank in Google and create traffic. An example of this is listed below:
Google Search: blue work trousers (appears on front page of Google)
Site Champion Page: http://workwear.myworkwear.co.uk/workwear/Navy%20Blue%20Work%20Trousers
Nearest Category page: http://www.myworkwear.co.uk/category/Mens-Work-Trousers-936.htm
Could this be a penalisation or duplication factor? Could these be interpreted as a dodgy link factor?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Kind Regards,

Are Links from blogs with person using keyword anchor text a Penguin 2.0 issue?
Hello,
I am continuing a complete clean up of a clients link profile and would like to know if Penguin is against links from blogs with the user including keywords as anchor text? So far I have been attempting to get them removed before I go for a disavow. An example would be the work clothing comment at the bottom of:
http://www.fashionstyleyou.co.uk/beat-the-caffeine-rush.html/comment-page-1
I am also questioning if we should keep any link directories, so far I have been ruthless, but worry I will be losing a hell of a lot of links. For example I have kept the following:
http://www.business-directory-uk.co.uk//clothing.htm
Your comments are welcomed!

Link Removal and Disavow - Is Page Rank a sign directory is okay with Google
Hi,
Currently cleaning up a clients link profile in preparation for disavow file and I have reached the stage where I am undecided on some directories as I don't want to remove all links.
Is Page Rank an indication that Google is okay with a particular directory? For example the following domain is questionable, but has a PR of 3. Do I need to consider scrapping all such links in anticipation of future updates?

Thanks in advance
