FYI - for anyone else with this issue, I found a "preferred domain" setting in Google webmaster tools that allows you to specify which domain is used. Hopefully that will speed up the process for me.

FYI - google just made the change this morning - so it all happened pretty quickly. Not sure if the google webmaster change speed it up, but it may have. thx!
