Thanx very much for the link Marcus, interesting reading. It looks like there are certain things to tweak to try influence it.

Do anyone have experience in this regard that they can add to this topic? Here is my situation, I have a group of 7 companies, represented on one website, now only one of them show on the sitelinks, the rest point to blog articles... so you can imagine it would be better to show companies on these sitelinks.

I know Google will only show sitelinks if the site is deemed authoritive and if it will help the user searching a keyword, but is there anyway to order or control which links appear in the sitelinks?

I know you can demote a sitelink in Webmasters, but is this not shooting yourself in the foot? If I demote a link will Google replace it with the next link it thinks is worthwhile and be doing this eventually show the links you want to appear in your sitelinks?

How does should one treat mobi sites which have a separate set of files to the main site - with regards to the sitemap? Doe we tell Google about them?

Thanx all, once this content is deleted, what would I show on my sitemap.xml?

This domain has become a landing page and now redirects to two other location businesses.

eg. www.business.co.za  used to be the main site, but now they have split to www.business1.co.za and www.business2.co.za

Do I now add a simplified site map showing only these two links? Or do I show the old sitemap with the two new links to the new domains?

Hi all,

A quick question, after you have setup your 301 re-directs in .htaccess - is it necessary to keep your content in the original domains directory?

My thinking is that requests do get as far as referencing the directory, thus it should be safe to delete all the files on the old domain?
