Where I can place a banner/message in my site telling I have a new website?
If you want to be subtle about it, then just display a simple horizontal message at the top of the browser window as Cyto references. It isn't in your face, but it is noticable. Leave a small "X" for people to close the message bar and make the bar itself clickable to link to your new website(s). If you want to really let everyone know, then create a slider image/graphic and place right smack dab in the middle of the Home page and have it scroll with your other images/graphics. Make the graphic clickable to the new website(s). In my opinion, I would go with the more subtle approach as the visitors will see the site pushed down a little with the message bar clearly having an X to close and a text blurb about the new site and a CTA to click to visit. Also, this will show on all pages from where the visitor lands. Patrick

Difference of Web/URL forwarding and 301 redirection from SEO standpoint?
Hi, URL forwarding technically uses 302 redirect method. It is also called 'temporary redirect'. What it tells the Search Bots? Okay, it says that the URL has temporary moved. 301 redirect refers to 'moved permanently'. What it tells the search bots? It says that the URL has permanently moved to the new one. 301 redirect is used when you want to tell search engines that your old URL has now permanently moved to the new one. You must use it with care as search bots tend to give all authority of the old URL to the new one, and eventually take the old URL off their index. More information can be found here http://moz.com/learn/seo/redirection Thanks

Best 301 redirection plugin for Wordpress?
I selected the plugin called Redirection mostly because it has been downloaded 1.4M times. My thinking is that popular plugins tend to get more testing and tend to be more compatible with other themes and plugins. It works fine for me. Best, Christopher

How to remove trailing slashes in URLs using .htaccess (Apache)?
I am sorry my friend. Somehow I missed your response. It should have been: RewriteRule ^(.*)/$ /$1 [R,L] So, you missed the / And it is also used to remove the trailing slash from URLs just like the one that I gave you earlier. Best, Devanur Rafi

What is the difference between Redirect 301 and RedirectMatch 301 in .htaccess?
Hi, Redirect and RedirectMatch are two ways you can implement redirects on Apache web server. The RedirectMatch directive allows pattern matching while the Redirect directive is for a single file. Here you go for more information: http://www.askapache.com/htaccess/301-redirect-with-mod_rewrite-or-redirectmatch.html#301_Redirects_RedirectMatch Hope that helps. Best regards, Devanur Rafi

Has anyone already tried these hosting service (iPage, Just Host, a small orange and Fat Cow) ?
Can't believe you being an Interactive Marketing Manager fell for a cheap looking fake review affiliate site. Except A Small Orange, the others are crap. As horrible as you can get in the hosting industry.

Experience/suggestions in redirecting old URLs (from an existing site) to new URLs under a new domain
Just to add to Alan's answer, and this is from pure experience: You'll likely see a "down" period. Expect organic traffic to drop for a few weeks and hopefully get back to previous level or better. If you rely on organic, up your spend on PPC during this period Do not redirect internal pages to the root. domainA.com/page should redirect to another inner page. Don't start redirecting groups of pages to the new root. Like Alan said, pages without external links are not worth redirecting. Make sure you get all of your links from OSE, Majestic, Ahrefs and WMT to get a decent picture. Ensure you're redirecting to similar content too! Change the site address in WMT, verify new site in WMT - watch this like a hawk, especially crawl errors. Once the new site is up, submit your XML sitemaps to WMT. Triple check your robots.txt, and other robots directives - I've see too many sites go up with NOINDEX and full robots.txt blocks. Fetch pages in WMT to ensure you're getting 200 response codes on your most important / new pages Recrawl all your old pages (that you've redirected) to ensure they return a 301 > 200. No chains, just 1 301. There's probably more, but those are the essentials.

How can I prevent Google and other search engines to crawl my secured pages (https:)?
Your best bet is to place a meta noindex tag on each secure page. If it's only a few pages, you could just add it by hand. If it's many, you should be able to access each pages protocol with whatever server-side language you're using, and dynamically add it on all secure pages. If you use robots.txt to exclude the pages, Google can still show them in search results, with the description below them that reads, "A description for this result is not available because of this site's robots.txt – learn more." Personally, I don't care for that.

Where should I host my Wordpress website (e.g. Godady, bluehost, hostgator)?
I have used Host Gator and GoDaddy in the past. To be honest I find Host Gator to be a better for what I needed at the time. Overall these three solutions are entry level hosting providers.

Online Catalog (E-commerce like) Wordpress Themes?
What you are describing is not a shopping cart website; it sounds more like a "classified" website. Maybe the WP plugin below is suitable? I haven't tried it myself by it seems to have all the features that you need. http://wordpress.org/plugins/another-wordpress-classifieds-plugin/
