"Things to do" Google lists
Hey There, I've never seen any formal research having been done on this type of result (somebody should do this!). Best guess is that a variety of signals would be involved. These could include proximity, authority, reviews, the number of times users have saved a location to their own Google Maps, etc. Difficulty of inclusion will likely be based on your locale. A small town would likely be much simpler to get attention in than a large city with multiple attractions. One thing you might try. If you click on the "more things to do" link, then click on the "travel guide" link at the top of the page, then scroll to the bottom of that page, you'll see a feedback button. The popup this surfaces invites you to share a screenshot and and share your ideas. Why not suggest your business? Definitely not saying this will result in anything, but it's the one vehicle I see for directly providing feedback about these results. This is a good topic. I'd like to see more research done on it.
