Great response and funny too!
Thanks for your insight.
Seems to me like I may be in a situation where I may be driving through Bugtussle on my way to a wrestling match. Thanks!

So,
There are no stupid questions right?
I am thinking about adding my website to a number of business directories and websites.
I have added it to several sites which do not charge a listing fee.
There are several sites out there which charge anywhere from 10 dollars to hundreds of dollars.
My question is:
Is there a way to figure out ahead of time the cost/benefit relationship between the price paid for several listings....... and the likely increase in page rank due to the increase of links to the website.
Or what number and quality of links I may need to aquire in order to increase my page rank?
I appreciate all the help this community has provided in the past. While my website is not ranking the best......... its a solid contender!
Thanks for your time and consideration in this matter.
I agree, while sometimes sites do seem to whiizzz up there quickly, 2 months is hardly long enough time to become worried.
In looking briefly at the the site, on site optimization seems to be lacking for what I would guess to be major key words/phrases
Also, there does not seem to be much going on in terms of links, you may give this some attention.
I also took a look at the area in which you are competing, seems like there is a lot of competition out there.
I would be patient, work on your content and generate some quality strategic alliances in which to foster relevant links.
My websites for the most part rank higher in Yahoo and Bing than in Google. Now, ranking within those search engines (Yahoo/Bing) are settling in to where my websites rank in Google.
Any thoughts?
Anyone else experiencing this?
Thank you for your time!
Thats funny, I needed a good laugh and am u sucker for funny dog photos! Thanks!
While there are generally a number of different ways to do the same thing, you are definitely doing things right. Its a lot of hard work as I am sure you know, but in the long run and over time you will see benefits from your efforts.
Regarding having links of others on your site. You bet, there is definitely some benefit to having some outgoing links. Keep up the good work!
I second the comment from Ross. I had a similar issue in the recent past. I found it best and easiest to try and forget about the bad back links and move forward with building quality ones....... just my two cents.
This can be a worth while venture, but only as a last resort.
In order to make a better informed response or suggestion, more information would be required of you......is the site for making $ or just for fun, how competive is the environment, would the capital time and investment work out if you sharpend a pencil to it.
I have also had some great success via the University avenue. Not only for writters......... Great points!
Hi Bryce,
Thanks for the input. I was thinking that direction. It nice to have some affirmation from time to time.
Cheers!
I have found the resources under learn SEO to be very helpful. Webinars, Videos and the Beginners Guide.
For me, I find downloading reports, then making comparisons over time also keeps me on track.
I am by no means an expert, but by spending a little time with the tools and the content they provide I have gained solid traction in handling some of the content provided.
Hi Matt thanks for the response. The link below will help better explain my situation. Each truck has a difference page....... How would you look at page titles and descriptions?
Hi Bryce,
Here is a link..... which may help to clarify my situation. I am just trying to deal with individual landing pages for each truck
A website has several wigets to show
Each wiget with its own page
The wigets mostly just vary in size
How would you suggest titles be done?
Example:
Wiget 1ft
Wiget 2ft
Wiget 3 ft
an so on........ Would this trigger a duplicate content issue given “Wiget” leads in the page title?
I have used video on a few occassions and would suggest Youtube. Its quick and easy to submit, loads quickly, plays well and does not bog down your site. Just my two cents! Good Luck!
