Should I use FB Share or FB like option?
-
I am confused between choosing Facebook share and Facebook like options on my website. Like is a one step process but it won't be visible in friend's feed whereas share is 2 step process but is visible in your friend's feed and it reaches more people.
Did anyone experiment with these two options and found which works better?

Hi Avinash,
In my opinion there is just a small difference between Share- and Like buttons. When you use a Like button the posting should appear in your feed, but visitors are not able to add a personalized text or message.
When using a Share button, visitors will be able to add a personal text or message to it before it gets shared in the Facebook timeline. It will be interesting to see whether a posting with a personal message is performing better than a posting without (or vice versa).

I would go with the Like option, what I noticed doing research for thousands of articles is that the share options for either links or posts on FB are very rarely used by people. So even if people are sharing something on Facebook that must outweigh sometimes dozens or hundreds of like for the same thing. Most of the times it didn't for us and that's why we decided to go with the Like option.

Thanks Martijn for your response. Care to share pointers to your experiments or case studies on this?

Sorry, don't have anything public around this that I'll be able to share.
