Does anyone have experience with both LinkDetox and Removeem??

According to LinkDetox our site has several hundred toxic links which we are considering removing. Are the features for contacting other Webmaster to request link removal equivalent on Removeem? All things considered we would probably stick to LinkDetox unless there is something fundamentally better with Removeem?

Alternatively, if there is an inexpensive tool solely for contacting Webamsters to request a removal that would be great as we have already identified the offending links with LinkDetox?

      Thanks, Alan

Can't really compare as I haven't used the other tools, but I used RMOOV and it was very good. Various price levels depending on number of domains to contact. The $99/month did it for us. Very good support (by phone) as well.

        Good Luck!

          Hi Chris:

Well that is a good endorsement of RMOOV. Did you you witness any improvement in ranking once the process was complete?

          Thanks, Alan

Trick question! We did after the disavow and a refresh. That took about 8 months. I think every situation is going to be different and in some cases, it may be better to start fresh with a new domain. One advantage we had was catching what the "SEO" company was doing and getting them to remove as many links as they could.

You didn't mention if you have a Manual Action or suspect a penalty. We definitely had a Penguin penalty and knew we had bad links. We used Link Detox as an aide in the process but manually reviewed each link - Good/Bad. Beware of just going with what the tool says. Do your own evaluation.

              Now that is interesting!!!

We are in a somewhat similar situation. Ranking declined sharply after the 1st Penguin in 2012. Recovered partially. We hired an SEO firm in 2014, invested about $40,000 in purchasing their reports and implementing their suggestions without much improvement. A year later (after taking a break from SEO and relying on advertising) I see our link profile is pretty bad with a lot of spammy links so we are contemplating attempting to get those bad links removed.

Considering our domain authority is only 23 and we have less than 100 domains linking to our site, do you think we would be better off starting with a fresh domain or redirecting to a fresh domain? Our company is Metro Manhattan Office Space, yet our URL is www.nyc-officespace-leader.com.  Not the best from a branding point of view. Further more we own the domain www.metro-manhattan.com and when visitors enter that domain they redirect to www.nyc-officespace-leader.com.

A fresh domain would help me solve the branding problem. However the idea of starting from scratch is disconcerting.

Beyond my expertise to answer this and it is going to be based on your connection to the domain in question.

TAGFEE: My company owns Remove'em and I helped build the bad link detection algorithm for it.

I would say that Link Detox and Remove'em are very different. Link Detox, from my estimation, focuses very much on perfecting the bad link detection mechanism. In fact, many Remove'em users upload Link Detox lists to Remove'em just to use our outreach functionality.

Remove'em intends instead to be a tool that covers from "Discovery to Recovery". We don't disclose the same granular level of data on why a link is identified as concerning, instead our focus is sorting and flagging the links in a way that most efficiently allows you to do link removal outreach and build a disavow file. We get contact info for you, manage emails, track links for removal status and even build a progress page so that you csn show google your work so-to-speak in a reconsideration request. We deliberately have a bias towards action.

That being said, from all I have heard, link detox is am excellent product and, as mentioned, many of our customers use link detox as the scalpal, so to speak, in identifying bad links, and then upload them to removeem for managing the link removal process.

                  Hope that helps!

                    Hi Russ:

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I have contacted your sales team and  hoping to speak to a rep soon. A few questions about your product:

-If used successfully, what success rate are customers seeing in the removal of links before having to file a disavow?

-Does the database that generates a link profile include Majestic? That would save me the cost of having to purchase that subscription.

Perhaps, as you suggest I can upload the LinkDetox file to Remove'm and use your package for outreach.

                    Best, Alan

Hi Alan, thanks for your questions. In the interest of respecting the Moz forums, perhaps it would be better if I let the support team handle it, they are great. As much as Id love to brag about the tool here, it just doesnt seem right. Ill see to it support gets back to you shortly.
