Data source of Google Maps in Japan

Hi There,

Does any one know how to input data such as restaurants into Google Maps in Japan? Google Map Maker isn't supported in Japan and I can't find who the primary data suppliers are.

I am looking to find out so I can improve my neighbourhood guide on an airbnb listing. It would be great to tell people the location of local shops and restaurants but can only add locations listed in Google maps which is limited for Kurokawa in Japan.

Hi Billy,

I'm sorry that I don't have more expertise in Local in Asia, but I believe Google leases street mapping data from a company called Zenrin in your country. I am not sure how much this will help you, but I hope it's a start!

Thank you for the pointer. Google does indeed lease maps from Zenrin-DataCom. Now I just need to get my head around how they gather information as it is not obvious from their website.
