Does including your site in Google News (and Google) Alerts helps with SEO?
-
Based on the following article http://homebusiness.about.com/od/yourbusinesswebsite/a/google-alerts.htm in order to check if you are included you need to run site:domain.com and click the news search tab. If you are not there then...
I ran the test on MOZ and got no results which surprised me.
Next step according to :https://support.google.com/news/publisher/answer/40787?hl=en#ts=3179198 is to submit your site for inclusion.
Should I? Will it help?
P.S.
This is a followup question to the following: http://moz.com/community/q/what-makes-a-site-appear-in-google-alerts-and-does-it-mean-anything -
Google made a big announcement last week about Google news: https://www.seroundtable.com/google-in-the-news-19259.html
The news section is not just coming from a human news approved sites, so how you get listed in here I don't know if you still have to go through the old method or whether Google will now just rank you if you are relevant. If anyone knows if you still need to apply be great to know the answer.

Hi,
Moz is not a news site, it's a community with a great blog but they don't post any stuff related to news or marketing news in general. That is probably just why they're not allowed according to the Google News guidelines to be in there. You have to provide news in the end, they're pretty hard on this for the last year at least.
It probably will indirectly help you with SEO, you get great exposure and traffic from Google News if you have the right audience so that could potentially earn you links or mentions on other Web sites if you break a scoop on something.

There's always the possibility that Moz can get featured in the section of the frontpage results, like how google is doing it with other blogs. But I dont think it will for news, specifically.
If your site is qualified to be included then it'll definitely give you some help with SEO.

Thanks Martijn_Scheijbeler.
You are correct, I lost focus. It started out from curiosity why my site doesn't appear in Google Alerts for relevant terms which lead me to read about Google News.
If my Site's blog is occasionally reporting news related to the fashion/jewelry industry, would you recommend trying to include it in Google News?
Thanks

Yes, I would always give it a try as long as you try to follow all their guidelines and only submit news to them they might approve you.
