      Hi All,

We have been actively using Moz with domain format http://www.domain.com, and now we launched a new site under https://domain.com. Looks like Moz sees the new domain scheme as a separate website. If I change to https://domain.com it wants to delete all my history, however this is the same site.

      What can I do?

      Thanks

      Andras

From my understanding, currently Moz cannot crawl HTTPS websites.

          Hey Andras,

Thanks for writing in. First, we are not currently able to update the domain of a website at this time and you cannot input https over http in the set up of a new campaign at this time, so you wouldn't be able to specifically request to crawl the https version of a site right now.

We are working on updating our crawler to handle https better going forward and I have seen that https is getting crawled for some sites already. What I would recommend at this time is to keep the campaign you already have set up but redirect http://www.domain.com/ to https://domain.com/, as that will direct our crawler to access the https pages of the site.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

          Chiaryn

            Hello Chiaryn,

Thanks for your reply. Actually, this is what we are doing since the first minute: the old http:// domain got 301 redirected to https:// - but the crawler still only crawls one page.

We need to resolve this quickly as we need to get some actionable insight into the new site's SEO aspects.

            Thanks,

            Andras

              Hey Andras,

I took another look at your campaign and it actually looks like you are tracking http://www.domain.com, which redirects to https://domain.com, without the www. The campaign is set to only track pages on the www subdomain, so we will not follow the redirect to the non-www subdomain of the site.

I have included screenshots of the campaign settings and the URL in a header checker for your reference, but I have removed some of the information for privacy reasons.

I hope this clears things up.

                Thanks, Chiaryn, this is it.

Unfortunately Moz Analytics does not let me save the change to "Include all sites at the domain", it keeps jumping back to "Only track this subdomain.", and nor can I get help from Pro, where I cannot change this setting either.

I assume this is a bug that prevents me to use a paid service, so hopefully you can resolve this quickly. We are really interested in the SEO data of our recently launched new product! 🙂

                Thanks,

                Andras

                  Hey Andras,

It is not actually a bug that you cannot change the URL of the site. Currently, the only way to change which URL you are tracking is to create a new campaign for the full root domain of the site.

I apologize for the inconvenience this causes.

                  Chiaryn

I will do so. But I will miss my years of data a lot! 😕

                    Thanks for your support,

                    Andras
