Tools for guest blogging research
-
Hey Everyone,
I think guest blogging to build an audience and engage other bloggers is good idea for SEO; however, the manual research I'm doing to find the right blogs is somewhat tedious and time consuming. It struck me that most of what I'm looking for could probably be retrieved by a tool...if one exists.
So, I thought I'd ask the smartest SEO people in the world (You) if you know of any blog research tools out there that retrieve information about blogs? I'll list below the things I typically look at, but the tool(s) doesn't have to get the exact same information I'm currently looking at. I'm just looking for a tool that will help me determine which blogs have good traffic and engagement and which are most likely to be receptive to publishing a guest blog post.
Currently, I look at:
- Does the blog advertise that they accept guest blog posts ("become a contributor", "submit a guest blog post", etc)?
- How many posts did they publish last month?
- How many guest blog posts did they publish last month?
- What is the approximate amount of monthly traffic?
- What's their Open Site Explorer DA?
- What's their Followerwonk Social Authority score?
- Average number of FB shares/likes on the last 10 posts
- Average number of G+ shares on the last 10 posts
- Average number of Tweets on the last 10 posts
- Average number of comments on the last 10 posts
In addition to tools that can help with the research on the blogs, if you have any suggestions for a quick way to create a list of potential blogs to connect with, that would be cool, too. Right now, I manually search for the blogs which can take a while. I'm looking into some of the guest blog communities, like myblogguest.com, but some of the niches I'm working in don't tend to lend themselves well to those types of communities. There just isn't a lot of opportunity. So, manual research is often needed.
I greatly appreciate your recommendations.
Thanks!

The way you are doing it is the actual/perfect way to do it. There is no automated way to do it, and if at any time a tool appears allowing you to make the exact same research and outreach, then you can forget about guest blogging as being helpful for SEO.
Advise: keep doing it your way.
