        quite wrong I believe.

        you could have a billion products but if they don't have a nice title and good content and the site is a bit garbage you won't rank.

        Normal SEO applies

          I think inventory can affect your ranking position in this way. Let's say you have a nice product page that is ranking really high. You then run out of that product and it is out of stock for 3 months. Now, all of the visitors that CT from the SERPs to your site, come and go quickly. Your bounce rate and time on site metrics are terrible. The user goes right back to Google and clicks another result. Google understands that your page isn't a valuable or desirable result for their users and therefore you can drop in the rankings as Google tries to serve up better results.

            that has nothing to do with your inventory though. :S that is a stock management / system management issue with dealing out of stock items. Just because you have a similar item in your inventory doesn't mean it will rank well nor be the next thing to appear on google.

            The sentiment of the question is basically if i've a million items (say mens shirts) will they rank well because I have so many - the answer is no they won't rank well unless you perform seo on them just as any other shop.
