What is really "Internal Links"

Hi Rune,
Thanks for writing in with a great question. The number you are seeing in the "internal links" column of the crawl diagnostics report would be the number of links to that page from other internal pages on your domain. This number is based off of our Mozscape index, which only includes about 25% of the links in Google's index, so we may just not have found all of the internal links you have to that page.
Most links will be indexed by our spiders and available in Mozscape and Open Site Explorer within 60 days, but some take even longer for many of reasons, including the crawl-ability of sites, the amount of inbound links to them, and the depth of pages in subdirectories. We almost always have content from the homepage of websites, externally linked-to pages, and pages higher up in a site's information hierarchy. However, deep pages that are buried beneath many layers of navigation are sometimes missed and it may be several index updates before we catch all of these.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

I am a bit confused again, because your support replied to me;

Hi Rune,
Thanks for reaching out. What "internal links" counter are you referring to?
Typically the Internal Links are counted from links that we found when putting together our MozScape index. The internal ones are links on your pages that specifically link to other pages in your root domain.
Let me know if that doesn't clarify it for you.
Cheers,
Joel."
No, this confuses me. Becuase the answer in the email says internal links are links to other internal pages, while the answer in this thread says it is a number indicating how many times that page has been linked to, by other internal pages. That is two very different answers...?!

Hi Rune,
Sorry for the confusion. Both the answer Joel gave you and the answer that I gave you are the same. An internal link is a link from one page on your domain to another page on your domain. For example, if www.seomoz.org links directly to www.seomoz.org/tools, that link would be considered an internal link because both the referring page and the target page are on the seomoz.org domain.
I hope that clears things up.

That is pretty easy to understant, but the answer to my question is really,
If a page on the report, says "200 internal links", it means there are 200 other pages (on my domain) linking to this page. Correct?

Hey Rune,
That's correct. Let me know if you have any other questions.
