Reverse IP Targeting Information?

Has anyone heard of this? A client asked me about this and I have never heard of a reputable source:

Smart Website Tracking: Allows you to view daily reports of traffic to website and see reverse IP targeting information to learn what companies have visited your site for lead GENeration. Only tracks and provides information on companies with static ip addresses. Includes up to 1000 visits to site for tracking in lead generation.

I dunno about that. I have a static IP and you could figure out who we are from a reverse DNS lookup. But we host our email on in-house servers and have to have a proper entry on our servers or we get bounced as spam. Many companies don't have that on their IPs and, as such, all you'll get it an entry pointing to their hosting provider.

As far as gleaning that list for lead generation... good luck to you on that. If you have private registration on your domain you might not get anything and it's not exactly kosher to use WHOIS info like that.

Includes "up to 1000 visits," huh? If this was a free service, I'd do it, but otherwise no. That's a pretty small prospecting pool, and the only data you get is that they visited and didn't convert (I'm assuming conversion was a goal for visiting traffic).

Better to just work on CRO and skip this half measure.

Thanks guys, I was doing my own research as well and found a product called LeadCaster from VisiStat. They seem to be over selling capabilities but if they are using a large 3rd party database, like SalesForce, it seems possible. I'm still very skeptical.
