Looking For Webinar Topics
-
Hey everyone!
We are looking for new ideas for some upcoming webinars here at SEOmoz. If you have any ideas please let us know! Ideas can be big or small as we are looking to expand these webinars into a variety of areas and niches.
Thanks!

Hey Casey, I've got an idea I think would help everyone.
Minor programming: using API's to build great content and link/social bait.
I've been searching the web for help getting started with APIs, but I can't find anything very useful for beginners trying to understand the basics. We could use SEOmoz API for examples to help people get started. This ajax'ed comparison tool is kindof helpful, but in my opinion there's not much (great) content on the web about this topic

I would like to know more facts regarding Google Local. When is Google showing e.g. the 3-pack, the 7-pack etc. As far as I know there are two diffrent algorythms which can be displayed.

rel="author"
I believe that this is an extremely important topic for companies who have invested heavily in content and for authors who might like to "own" their reputation even though they have written for multiple employers.... or have contributed free content to communities... i.e..... can YOUMoz authors get personal benefit from what they publish on SEOMoz?
Experienced webmasters are having a hard time grasping this topic. It sounds very easy until you try to implement across multiple domains.
Plus many people believe that there are potentials for costly abuse.
More here.

Thanks EGOL! We just launched the rel="author" tag here on SEOmoz and will be looking at how others in the community are using it. I've found that the documentation has been less than helpful leaving many people guessing on how to use it. Time will tell how the Engines will use it. I'll add to our list though, thanks!

Good idea Donnie as I know more and more SEOs are learning to programming a little to get that extra step ahead of other SEOs.
-
Hey Petra, that's not a bad idea either! I've notice Google has updated their Places Help Articles, so we should all probably revisit how we treat 'local'.
-
Getting "Down & Dirty" with Google Analytics. I could see you guys developing several videos on this subject.
-
Hey Costume, Google's Conversion University is a GREAT resource of Analytics videos. No doubt some Analytics webinars from SEOmoz would be great too

I've noticed a lot of questions in Q&A regarding directories. It's sort of an outdated subject, but there is an opportunity there to outline possible values (or not). I did a quick search and couldn't find any recent articles regarding directories on SEOMoz.
Not as cool or sexy as some of the other topics suggested, but a definite opportunity.

-
Thanks for the suggestion Emily. We are currently working on something that fits with this suggestion though it's not a webinar. Stay tuned to our blog for more details coming soon but it's still worth maybe hitting this subject in a quick webinar.

Awesome. I will keep an eye out for it.

Yep, great suggestion. I would really like to see how Google Local and all those other directories and location based service directories like yelp, qype,... are influencing the SERPs. As it is now, local results, together with Adwords take up most of the real estate above the fold if <keyword>is combined with <major city="">. As long as local search is big, I'd really like to see regular updates in webinars.</major></keyword>

Many are already listed. So... I'm proposing::
-
Brand marketing SEO > from unknown online eCommerce to recognized brand (this could involve the concept of Entity);
-
Link building in super competitive and with not immaculate reputation fields: e.g. Gambling and Co.
-
Schema.org and its SEO implications
-
SEO for small business tourist sites (aka: hotel not in a chain, b&b...) >> how to compete against the Tourist Review Sites (e.g.: Booking, Expedia...). Not strictly related to Local Search.
-
International SEO, Inbound and Web Marketing (that could include something about the concept of different CRO for different cultures...)
Surely I will find other topics

I would love to see a webinar on the Local Google 7 Pack, and the rel="author" as suggested(as well as proper implementation.)
In addition, I wouldn't mind seeing something about the benefits of silo/flat architecture.
-
Yes to the Google Local suggestions.
I would like to see webinars on:
- Guerrilla SEO in Highly Competitive Markets
- Small Business SEO (Including discussion of when to hire a professional and what you can do in-house)
- Google Page Speed
-
I'd love to see a webinar on local ranking factors and how they differ from keyword targeting and typical SEO tactics.
-
I echo all the comments about Local. With 1 in 5 searches having local intent, this area is becoming HOT!
-
A video based in almost a V-Log kind of way of an SEO Guru would be great to the students in this community! Show us what you do, your schedule, office, desk, average routine!
-
I would really NOT like this information spread about....
