Who Came First, Roger, or Googlebot?

Ok, so this might not be the most insightful question on the PRO Q&A Forum, but does anyone else find similarities between SEOmoz's own Roger and Google's Googlebot?

Can anyone provide any insight into either of these two bots (i.e. birth date, creator, etc).

This won't answer your question entirely, but it's kinda fun. The first instance I remember of Rand drawing a robot came from this post.  ( I can't believe I still remember it).

Roger, obviously, came later.  I like to think of them as big brother/little brother. Or maybe distant cousins.
