When you say it fluctuated between 6-7 for a couple days are you meaning position 6-7 on page 1 or pages 6-7 in the SERPs?

Also, it's possible that your new pages are better optimized for the phrase than your homepage was and so Google shows those pages now instead.

Would you be willing to share our domain so I can give you a more specific answer?
