Hiding H1
-
I'm working on a site that has hidden H1 content. So for example:
Video/Film Production
with the page using the following codeVideo/Film Productionas the title. there are no other H1 tags on the page.
I have taken this up with their dev and they have suggested this has to be implemented this way due to some issues with displaying in iOS. They are digging their heels in and suggesting it stays as is.
How much of a risk would you say this is? Well i'm actually looking for a bit of a back-up here.

Hey there,
Google wrote up a guide to hidden text, content and links. Check this out:

Maybe pass this to your devs and get them to check all the guidelines are adhered to.
I hope this helps,
Sean

I'm trying to understand WHY they're using hidden H1s at all? I see no good reason to put H1s in a hidden class if it's not displayed on the page. Is there some sort of functionality mapped to the H1s? If so, it should be done some other way if you don't actually want it to show. I don't have the full context, but it really sounds like a bad attempt to get keywords on the page. It won't work, and it could do some harm.
