Parallax site with snippets of internal pages on the homepage

Hello,

I am working on a parallax site that also has an internal landing page structure. The homepage includes snippets of the existing copy from some of the other internal pages.

My question is what can I do to the homepage to prevent duplicate content in this situation? We aren't utilizing the entire landing page on the homepage just a few lines.

Would it be possible to place a 'no-index, follow' tag on these sections?

Your question seems similar to this one - http://moz.com/community/q/home-page-blog-snippets-duplicate-content-help - there is no duplicate content if you're just using a small part of an article on another page.

Not sure where you would put the noindex - in each case noindex is only possible for pages - not for snippets

Hi Robert, Yes you'd think by now there would be a set of Html5 tags created to ignore specific snippets of content so you could just surround that content in tags like <nodupe>Ingnore this Duplicate Content</nodupe>, unfortunately not as yet.

There are Seo myths about 95% original content is ok, but there is no official statement from Google saying that 5.5% of your pages content can be duplicate.

If you're using WordPress, try to see if you can use excerpts from your landing pages instead. Excerpts allow you to pull in original pieces of content as snippets rather than the actual content from the page.

Try creating that section on the homepage manually and just replicate layout with original content instead, and then link it to the other pages. I wouldn't be overly concerned about it, as long as it wasn't more than 5-10% of your page. (There's that myth again...)

Duplicate content also applies to your metadata too so be careful of that also. Make sure all of your page title tags and meta descriptions aren't duplicate either.

Without seeing the site, just going by the question, this is honestly not something I'd worry about. "Duplicate content" is really only an issue if you are stealing/scraping content from other people and copying it onto your site in aggregate. Having the same text appear on one page and then another, if it's your own unique text is OK. Of course in context those pages need to be uniquely valuable for users. The homepage needs to fulfill a purpose, and the inner pages need to fulfill different purposes.
